About this role

We are looking for a kind and competent assistant for a very social 15-year-old boy who is as cheerful as a ray of sunshine. The workplace is both in central Stockholm and at other locations where the client has activities. However, most of the work takes place in central Stockholm where the client resides. Ideally, you should be a positive, active woman aged 25-50. The working hours on weekdays are from 4:15 PM to around 8/10 PM or from 4:15 PM to 8 AM with some rest time (on-call) when you assist as needed during the night. There is also the possibility of daytime shifts on weekends and school holidays. The client has non-verbal autism level 2, with moderate intellectual disability. His interests include listening to music and watching movies on his iPad, which is always with him, riding, running around and playing, going for walks, running outdoors in nature, discovering and having snacks outside, jumping on a trampoline, swimming in pools, and also in the sea. It is also nice to be at the allotment at Stora Skuggan. It is important to understand that he needs supervision at all waking hours and pedagogical training in daily living skills. Since this boy has physical health issues with severe pain at times, he may exhibit challenging behavior towards others and himself during pain episodes. Your patience and kind heart are crucial. You are good at reading the situation and can adapt to how he is feeling that day. It is important that you understand your role as a personal assistant in a home setting. You are unpretentious and solution-focused. You are not allergic to pets as this boy may have riding scheduled. You are a non-smoker. Your responsibilities include: - Assisting and being a communicative support during activities, both in and outside the home environment. - Training communication using AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) on Tobii Dynavox. You should have no difficulties handling games, apps, and other technology. You will receive an introduction at the workplace. - It is expected that you can work with a low-arousal approach in your interactions. - Leisure activities you will participate in and be responsible for include visits to museums and outdoor activities at places like Rosendal and Skansen, swimming, trampoline parks, riding, and gymnastics. - Hygiene assistance - helping with stoma changes and administering medications. - Working hours are weekday afternoons from 4:15 PM/evenings/nights when on-call, assisting as needed, as well as daytime shifts on weekends/school holidays. You will meet the client at school or upon return home from school. Morning work and accompanying the client to school may also be relevant. - Accompanying the client to the hospital may also be required. Requirements: - Knowledge and experience with children with non-verbal autism and intellectual disabilities. - Experience in training AAC using Tobii Dynavox - you should be interested in this, and training will be ongoing. - Experience with low-arousal approaches. - A valid driver's license. However, we place the highest emphasis on personal suitability, and you must be proficient in the Swedish language, both spoken and written, as much can be learned thereafter. Desirable qualifications include healthcare knowledge, such as changing stomas and being able to assess if a child is ill/needs care. Experience with horses/ability to ride is a plus. Active interest in gymnastics for children with disabilities and physiotherapy is also appreciated. Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis, and the position will be filled in mid to late August.
