Personnel and Financial Manager at IF Metall Mälardalen

Do you have experience working in a trust-based organization and leading staff? Do you want to work for and with people? IF Metall is now seeking a local coordinator for the Mälardalen department based in Västerås. You will be responsible for a team of 20 people and have financial responsibility for the department. Here, you will work with engaged colleagues in a role that involves many varied contacts and close collaboration with the department board. About the position You will lead, coordinate, plan, and quality-develop the work within all parts of the department. The work is based on decisions made by the congress, representatives, and department board. The role includes personnel responsibility for administrative staff and union representatives, as well as staff employed by IF Metall's unemployment insurance fund. You will report to the department chair. As a local coordinator, you are the extended arm of the department board, and your main tasks will include: - Leading and planning the department's work. - Having delegated responsibility for occupational health and safety at both the organizational and individual levels. - Being responsible for competence development and recruitment. - Managing the department's budget, operational planning, and follow-up. - Serving as the elected treasurer and sitting on the department board and executive committee. - Being responsible for training, meetings, and conferences. - Managing property, administration, and finances. - Performing other tasks related to the operations, such as member recruitment, organization, and negotiation. Who are you? We are looking for someone who is confident in daily leadership and can guide the team towards broader goals. You have experience with personnel responsibility and knowledge in labor law. Operational planning, finance, and budgeting are also areas where you have experience. In your role, you are accustomed to working with IT tools and systems as support. Understanding how to operate in a non-profit and trust-based organization is important, and experience in the trade union movement is an advantage. You express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and are proficient in English; additional languages are a plus. To succeed in this role, you need to have the ability to build good relationships, a structured working approach, and a results-oriented mindset. You are communicative, adaptable to change, and maintain composure even in pressured situations. To thrive in this role, you should be interested in strategic issues and enjoy problem-solving. Since travel is part of the job, a valid driver's license (category B) is required. We are looking for someone who shares the values of the labor movement and has a strong interest in union matters.
