About this role

Are you an enthusiastic chemist with a strong interest in organic synthesis – both practically and theoretically? Do you enjoy tackling complex challenges and want to combine research with commercial project collaborations in the industry? Join us in shaping the future of pharmaceuticals at RISE's Department of Chemical Processes and Pharmaceuticals! About us RISE is a driving force in the sustainable transition that businesses, society, and the world need. We work with solutions and conditions that make a difference today – and with areas of knowledge and technologies that can be crucial tomorrow. The mix of roles, perspectives, and competencies provides us and others with better conditions in a complex world. The Department of Chemical Processes and Pharmaceuticals is now seeking a synthesis chemist with experience in pharmaceutical development. Welcoming a new enthusiastic colleague to our team is one of the most rewarding things we know. With us, you will have great opportunities to influence your career, and through open dialogue, we will set goals together for your development at RISE. You will also be met with a creative and welcoming environment as well as many skilled colleagues to collaborate with. About the role Within the department, we work on both commercial and grant-funded research and development projects. We conduct commercial project collaborations with industry as well as research in areas such as chemical process development and scaling, formulation, and analytical chemistry. An important area for you will be to develop processes for the synthesis of oligonucleotide or peptide-based drug substances. We use our unique expertise to solve problems and develop processes in close collaboration with our clients, ranging from small companies to multinational pharmaceutical firms. The work primarily takes place in interdisciplinary project teams, with significant personal responsibility for deliveries. As a synthesis chemist, you will work in the lab on a variety of questions within organic chemistry, both in client and research projects. Participating in networks, identifying business opportunities, writing research proposals, and leading projects are natural parts of the role. Please note that a background check will be conducted prior to employment. Location: Södertälje Who are you? To succeed in this role, you are creative and solution-oriented. You thrive on working independently and taking responsibility while valuing collaboration and open exchange of ideas with colleagues. You have a strong drive to take initiative and make things happen. You are accustomed to working practically in a laboratory environment. Since we collaborate both internally and externally with clients and partners, we see that you are business-minded, responsive, and skilled at building relationships. Requirements: • PhD in organic synthesis chemistry or MSc in organic synthesis chemistry combined with several years of relevant work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. • Practical experience in peptide and/or oligonucleotide synthesis. You master relevant techniques such as (automated) solid-phase synthesis and have knowledge in the purification and analysis of peptides and/or oligonucleotides. • Experience in conjugation chemistry. You have knowledge in the design of synthesis pathways, synthesis, isolation, and analysis of conjugated substances or new modalities. • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written. Meritorious: • Completed post-doc in a relevant technical area. • Experience in scaling processes and/or large-scale manufacturing. • Knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. Are we a good match? Do you want to help develop the next generation of biological medicines? At RISE, we are building a new platform for synthesis – an initiative where you, as an organic synthesis chemist, will play a key role. You will be part of a growing team that develops tailored synthesis methods and processes for the pharmaceuticals of the future. Here, you can combine your chemistry expertise with innovation and help shape both working methods and the research environment from the ground up. With us, you will work in a creative environment where your knowledge contributes to real benefits – for research, industry, and society. Welcome with your application!
