Helsingborg Hospital is one of Region Skåne's four acute hospitals. Here, qualified emergency healthcare is provided around the clock. The operating department operates 24/7, with approximately 70 percent of activities being emergency-related. We perform a wide range of surgical procedures, both long and short operations. The operating department in Helsingborg is divided into three sections: orthopedics, surgery (including vascular surgery), and a section containing ear, gynecology/obstetrics, urology, and maxillofacial and dental patients. We have over 130 employees distributed among anesthesia nurses, operating room nurses, nursing assistants, anesthesiologists, and surgical technicians. The sterile processing department is also part of the operating department.
As an operating room nurse with us, you will have a section affiliation, with some introduction to all sections. During on-call hours, the workplace is divided into two sections: surgery/mixed and orthopedics. This means you work in your section but must be prepared for urgent procedures in other sections. During night shifts, two operating room nurses are on duty, and one operating room is staffed, with readiness for extremely urgent cases.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of operating room nurse, you will work with pre- and perioperative care. Together with your colleagues, you will strive to offer the patient the best possible care with warmth, safety, and competence. Additionally, you will aim to make the patient feel well cared for before and during the operation. As an operating room nurse, you will assist in all types of operations and participate in pre- and post-work such as instrument setup and handling of used instruments. In your daily work, you will also manage a large part of medical-technical equipment.
You will plan your work shifts according to a business-adapted preferred schedule. The work involves day, evening, weekend, and night shifts. We have a work time model based on the number of hours worked during inconvenient hours, and when working during inconvenient hours, you receive a work time reduction.
The introduction will be individually adapted based on your previous experience. The department offers four study days per year, annual CPR training, and opportunities for trauma training.
QUALIFICATIONS
We welcome those who are licensed nurses with specialist education in operating room nursing and authorized to practice within Swedish healthcare. Swedish language skills at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale are required. Previous experience working in an operating department with a mixed assignment of elective and emergency activities is meritorious. We also prefer candidates with good knowledge of the journal systems Orbit and Melior.
