As an employee in the Food Control Unit in central Sweden, you will work on controlling food companies' compliance with food legislation. You contribute to ensuring consumers receive safe food and can make well-informed choices. We are now seeking an Official Veterinarian for the Border Control team, stationed at the border control station in Norvik Port in Nynäshamn.
Your Responsibilities
As an Official Veterinarian at border control, you will work on controlling imported food from countries outside the EU. A day at border control involves administrative tasks, physical inspections, and sampling of imported foods. The work also includes regular dialogue with importers, cargo managers, and other authorities, such as the Agricultural Board and Customs Authority.
Border Control Team
You will become part of the Border Control team, consisting of approximately 25 employees distributed across border control stations in Gothenburg Port, Norvik Port, Helsingborg Port, Gävle Port, Södertälje Port, and Arlanda Airport. Stationed in Nynäshamn, you will be part of a group of three people.
Your Qualifications
We are seeking candidates with a veterinary license from Sweden or another EU country. It is important that you have strong administrative skills. Experience with official control is meritorious, as is experience with food border control and working with the TRACES system.
Personally, you need to be self-driven and able to make well-founded decisions and take initiative. You are confident in yourself and the decisions you make. At the same time, the position requires high collaboration skills – you succeed and develop together with your team. Consultation with businesses and other stakeholders is also a central part of the work, which requires clear and attentive communication. We will place significant emphasis on personal suitability.
You should have excellent Swedish language skills, both spoken and written, and be able to understand and communicate in English. A B driver's license is required.
