About this role

**Area of Operation: Women's Health Care** We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer services to two million people in Central Sweden. There is always something happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both challenging trials and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se. We welcome your application! **Our Operations** The obstetrics section is part of the women's health care area, which includes the delivery ward, maternity ward, and obstetric specialist clinics. Approximately 4,000 women give birth with us each year. We also have an induction clinic and a shared emergency department for gynecology and obstetrics (AGO). You, as an employee, are important to us, and together we create a positive work environment. We value community, collaboration, and well-being. Our work to develop women's health care is ongoing, and our goal is to provide our patients with the best possible care. In our maternity ward, we care for pregnant women with complicated pregnancies who require investigation and treatment. We also support new families with specific care needs after childbirth. All planned cesarean sections are admitted to the maternity ward and are managed by midwives and nursing assistants pre- and post-operatively. We actively work towards zero separation to promote bonding and breastfeeding. We are also responsible for the care of mildly premature infants in close collaboration with the Neonatal Department. A significant portion of the maternity care for healthy women and children is managed by midwives in home-based maternity care (BB vård i hemmet). Our delivery ward has thirteen universal rooms, two of which are equipped with bathtubs. In 2026, a standalone but nearby small unit will be built, where patients with healthy pregnancies, expected normal deliveries, and anticipated continued home care after birth can be received. This unit will have bathtubs available in all delivery rooms. We strive to work with one midwife per birthing woman in active labor. We aim to involve parents in the care process to foster participation during their time with us. We are always there for each other and maintain close collaboration with our colleagues. Our focus is on providing the best possible care to our patients with very high quality. In obstetrics, you will develop your profession by working in various parts of the operation. Competence development and interdisciplinary knowledge exchange are integral to the work. As a university hospital, we also have close collaboration with Uppsala University, and students are part of the teamwork. Providing the best possible care for the patient, woman, child, and family is a given for us, as is respecting people's diverse thoughts, cultures, opinions, and values. **Who Are We Looking For?** Midwife for Delivery/Maternity You are a licensed midwife with or without experience in obstetric care. With us, you will receive a secure onboarding process tailored to your needs, especially if you have been away from obstetrics for an extended period. **For All Positions** For all positions, you should be interested in working in various parts of the care chain. Together, we will determine how your role could look based on your preferences and the needs of the operation. To thrive with us, you need to be confident and stable as a person and in your professional role. You are independent, structured, and responsible. You maintain a professional approach towards patients and colleagues and have a particular interest in people's diverse needs during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care. You are motivated by varied tasks and being part of our competent teams, contributing to our excellent collaboration between professions. We value your flexibility and interest in quality work. We place great importance on your personal qualities. **Has it been a while since you worked in obstetrics?** With us, you will have the opportunity for an individually tailored introductory program to ensure a good start and help you feel secure in your new workplace. **We Offer** We offer a permanent position at 100% in a three-shift rotation. Start date by agreement. A probationary period of up to 6 months may apply. With us, you will have the opportunity to participate in a points model within inpatient care, which means a shortened weekly working time and a salary supplement.
