About this role

Together, we are developing Sahlgrenska University Hospital for a sustainable future. We are transforming healthcare with the goal of becoming Europe’s leading university hospital by 2032. Together with our patients, we strive for quality, accessibility, patient safety, research, education, and innovation – within an integrated healthcare system in the Västra Götaland region. Our vision and goals focus on providing care of the highest quality, with the patient always at the center. We offer healthcare services locally and regionally, as well as highly specialized care for patients from across the country and abroad. Our employees are our strength, contributing to knowledge exchange both nationally and internationally. With digital tools and new working methods, we can simplify daily operations at the hospital and provide modern, accessible, and efficient care of the highest quality. **About the Department** Ward 10/23 is a neurosurgical department providing highly specialized care for the Västra Götaland region and parts of Halland region. We offer 21 patient beds, three NIMA (intermediate) beds, and three NUVA beds (postoperative recovery). The department provides both elective and emergency care, treating patients with conditions affecting the brain and spinal cord, such as tumors, bleeding, vascular malformations, epilepsy, and acute head injuries. We are now seeking a nurse to expand our team! **What do we offer?** Our orientation program spans four weeks and is tailored to your experience and any arising needs. You will have dedicated time with one of our specialist nurses for delegations, as well as the opportunity to participate in an operation. We regularly hold lectures combined with skill-enhancing workshops in the department. There are excellent opportunities for internal professional development and a varied work environment, as you will have the chance to work on the ward, in the admission unit, and in neurosurgical intermediate care and postoperative monitoring, where you, as a registered nurse, will be introduced to these areas when you feel ready to further develop your skills. This variation is a valued aspect of the job. Currently, we implement individual schedule planning and work two weekends out of five. We encourage internal training and would like you to expand your knowledge with one of our neuro-focused accredited courses offered in collaboration with the University of Gothenburg. **Job Responsibilities** We are looking for someone who wants to work in a wonderful team where you will be well taken care of as a new colleague. No two days are alike, and you will learn something new every day, regardless of your previous experience. With us, you will work with a lot of medical technology equipment. You will have the opportunity to work and learn across a broad spectrum of healthcare, as the department has a diverse patient group in terms of age, medical history, and background. You will care for both adult patients and children, those who are acutely ill, and those admitted for planned procedures or treatments. As a nurse, you will have nursing responsibility for patients both pre- and postoperatively, working in a team alongside a nursing assistant. **About You** You are a licensed nurse. Experience in pediatric care and/or postoperative monitoring is a plus. The job requires personal maturity and clarity in communication with patients, relatives, and colleagues. You have the ability to convey calmness and security, take responsibility, and possess good prioritization skills. As a person, you enjoy collaborating and see the team as an essential part of the work. Initiative and innovative thinking are welcomed, and if you wish to engage in improvement work, there are opportunities for that. You are empathetic and have a good approach to others. Great importance will be placed on your personal qualities. We warmly welcome your application! **Meet Some of Our Employees - Sahlgrenska University Hospital** Sahlgrenska University Hospital has a time allocation related to night shifts, which reduces weekly working hours for each night worked. As a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our orientation program. The Clinical Foundation Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training in your profession at the Simulation Center. Additionally, it involves service in at least two different departments to broaden your competencies. In the event of recruiting nurses/doctors with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the relevant position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates. **About Västra Götaland Region** Västra Götaland Region exists for the people of Västra Götaland.
