About this role

Area of Operation: Neuro We are the Academic Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer treatment to two million people in Central Sweden. There is always something happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and incredible events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se. Welcome with your application! Do you have a keen mind? Then we would love for you to come and work with us in the neurosurgery department 85E! We are looking for new colleagues who are interested in an exciting job that offers you the opportunity to work with the most important thing a person has - the brain. If you also want to influence and develop our operations, then you are in the right place! “The work is varied and often challenging, but we are a cohesive and well-integrated team with diverse experiences that support each other. Together, we provide safe neurosurgical care, and every day we develop both as individuals and as a team.” - Maria, 85E “The staff is my most valuable asset! My focus is on the well-being of the staff, and together we create a good working environment where we all develop and drive the department forward.” – Cornelia, Department Head 85E Your Mission As a nurse with us, you will be part of a skilled team, where we support and help each other while also giving you the opportunity to develop your clinical acumen and work independently. We collaborate closely with other professionals, and you will be a vital piece of the puzzle in both our efforts related to working environment and patient safety on the department. With us, you will encounter a varied job with challenging tasks that will provide you with broad competencies. Nurses typically work in teams of four during days and evenings, which means approximately six to seven patients per team. Experienced nurses also have the opportunity to work nights. Our Operation We have a large catchment area as we are one of six highly specialized neurosurgical clinics in Sweden, accepting both planned and emergency patients around the clock. The patients we care for have brain hemorrhages, brain and spinal tumors, spinal injuries, vascular malformations, and hydrocephalus. The brain is what we hold most dear—it determines our bodies and who we are. The brain remains a mystery we continually learn more about. It governs everything we do, or cannot manage. Does that sound exciting? Come and become part of our fantastic team! You are warmly welcome to shadow us to get a personal view of our department and my leadership style. We maintain a close collaboration beyond departmental boundaries to focus on the working environment and do the best for our employees. We practice active leadership that contributes to structure and a good working environment, which is very important to us. Your Qualifications We are looking for you, a licensed nurse. Prior experience as a nurse is an advantage, but recently graduated individuals are also warmly welcomed to apply. Your Competence You are attentive and have a knack for communicating effectively with colleagues, patients, and relatives. You are an outgoing person who can handle stress and keep multiple tasks in motion. You can work both independently and as part of a team. You have an interest in developing our operations where the patient is always the focus. You possess the ability to prioritize and re-prioritize your tasks as necessary. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities since the work requires flexibility and a positive attitude. We Offer We provide you with a permanent full-time position with a start date according to agreement. We have flexible scheduling, allowing you to influence your work placement with us. You have the opportunity to work full-time or part-time, with rotations including nights or without nights. We offer individualized onboarding over approximately five weeks, depending on prior experience. As the Academic Hospital is a university hospital with a mandate to provide healthcare and conduct research, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of care for our patients. If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will participate in the Academic Hospital's clinical development year. This allows you to engage in clinical work on our department while also deepening your knowledge and exchanging experiences with newly hired colleagues across the hospital’s various operational areas. The clinical educational year is integrated into your schedule and counted towards your working hours. For those with nursing experience, our neurosurgery department can offer you competency-enhancing university courses in neurosurgery. With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/). Want to know more?
