We work to ensure that national goals are implemented in the region based on local conditions. We collaborate with stakeholders throughout the county.
We have approximately 600 employees and have offices in Malmö and Kristianstad.
**Description**
The County Administrative Board is seeking a conservation manager for the conservation unit in the Department of Nature and Water.
Your workplace will be at our office in Kullaberg. The position is a permanent employment with a six-month probationary period. Start date as soon as possible or as agreed.
The conservation unit is responsible for the management and maintenance of the three national parks and approximately 300 state nature reserves. The unit also coordinates outdoor recreation assignments, conducts nature education activities, and guides visitors at our three nature centers in Kullaberg, Stenshuvud, and Söderåsen. The unit's work also includes property management, which involves responsibility for buildings, leases, and usage rights on behalf of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.
The County Administrative Board has some field staff, but most of the practical work in the state reserves is carried out by others. We often have agreements with landowners and tenants, as well as with the Skåne Landscape Foundation and individual municipalities regarding management. We also receive assistance from the Swedish Forest Agency and their work teams or contracted entrepreneurs.
**Responsibilities**
The management of protected nature is carried out in accordance with the guidelines and handbooks of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. This means applying principles of adaptive management, contributing to the monitoring of goals, and ensuring long-term sustainable maintenance and operation of areas. The work primarily involves responsibility for the management and maintenance of state-decided conservation objects, mainly nature reserves, in Skåne. The tasks include planning, implementing, and following up on maintenance and restoration measures based on reserve decisions, management plans, and conservation plans. The measures encompass outdoor recreation facilities, biodiversity, and boundary marking. The work also involves preparing documentation for lease contracts, procurement/tendering for maintenance and restoration measures, and documenting completed actions. Additionally, it includes establishing agreements with landowners and maintaining good contact with landowners, users, contractors, the Swedish Forest Agency, the public, and the media.
As an employee with us, you have three roles: employee, colleague, and operational practitioner. In the role of employee, you represent the authority; together with your colleagues, you contribute to the overall result, and as an operational practitioner, you create societal value based on your expertise.
