About this role
With the goal of developing world-class skills for a sustainable future and a good life, the Nature Management Administration drives education within youth high schools, adapted high schools, adult education, and vocational colleges. The Nature Schools Axevalla Horse Center, Svenljunga, Sötåsen, Uddetorp, and the Biological Vocational College serve as competence centers for the growth and development of the green sector. Together with industry and researchers, the administration leads energy projects and experimental activities at the schools. The Nature Management Administration is part of the Västra Götaland Region.
Do you want to build infrastructure for the future of natural restoration and seed cultivation?
We are now seeking a Process and Development Leader with an interest in nature and sustainability.
Climate change and the loss of biodiversity are among the greatest challenges of our time – reversing this trend is a priority for the Västra Götaland Region.
In 2026, the Nature Management Administration, together with the Gothenburg Botanical Garden, will establish a center for natural restoration. The goal is to collaboratively build an infrastructure for species conservation and natural restoration that will lead to increased efforts and viable environments in our region. At the Nature School Uddetorp in Skara, we will establish a seed cultivation facility to propagate seeds and make both seeds and plants available for various promotion measures and restoration projects.
The Nature Management Administration will contribute to developing, testing, and scaling solutions that promote the restoration of ecosystem services and biodiversity, while also strengthening the sustainability and resilience of the sectors. The seed cultivation will be part of the Nature Management Administration's project and development activities and will serve as a meeting place where various stakeholders from research, business, government, and civil society can gather and develop natural restoration issues.
The work will primarily take place at the Nature School Uddetorp outside Skara, but it will involve regular travel across Västra Götaland, as well as nationally and within Europe.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities include:
Leading the work to develop seed cultivation of native wild plants in collaboration with the Botanical Garden and subsequently driving the operations forward. Building an operation that participates in both natural restoration projects and development and research projects within natural restoration. Supervising seasonal gardeners who will work alongside you on practical tasks such as seed collection, pre-cultivation, planting out, weeding, seed harvesting, seed cleaning, and storage. Establishing a system and a systematic approach to cataloging seed sources that can reliably guarantee seed authenticity until final use. Networking broadly within the field of natural restoration, including in limnic and marine environments. Communication tailored to different target groups and in various types of media.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with at least a three-year academic degree in biology or equivalent. A valid driver's license (B category) for manual transmission is required. Experience in natural restoration, nature conservation, or work in the green sector is an advantage. A background in project management and/or process management is also beneficial.
You should have a broad interest in nature, good species knowledge, and a passion for developing an operation that can help the green sector meet the goals of the Nature Restoration Regulation. You should also enjoy an outward-facing role where you are prepared to engage with researchers, students, politicians, and farmers. You should be accustomed to reaching out and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Conditions
Permanent employment with a 100% employment rate and vacation service. Start date by agreement. Interviews will be conducted continuously during the application period. To be employed in a school, a criminal record extract is required, which you can apply for via the police website.
