About this role
**Area of Operations: Medicine**
Welcome to the Hospital in Enköping – great care in a small format!
With us, approximately 700 engaged colleagues work in an environment where close collaboration and community are given. We are located in an expanding region with easy commuting options to Stockholm, Uppsala, and Västerås. For those considering moving to be closer to work, the Enköping region has much to offer. The hospital provides emergency and planned care for about 72,000 residents in Enköping, Håbo, and Southern Heby, and we also have specialist assignments throughout Uppsala County. Here, you can make a difference – for the patients and for the organization – in a working environment where we continuously develop together. Would you like to be part of our team? A warm welcome to the Hospital in Enköping!
**Our Operations**
The Intermediate Care Unit (IMA) has about 35 employees and is the hospital's highest level of care with 5 beds. The unit is focused on medical intermediate care and primarily cares for patients with compromised vital functions, which involves managing advanced medical equipment and inotropic medications. The pace is varied, with occasionally high turnover of patients; our average length of stay is about two days.
**Your Mission**
Your duties will consist of nursing, monitoring, and treating patients whose care needs cannot be met on a regular ward. In addition to emergency care, we also conduct some planned operations, such as electrical conversions and inpatient heart failure treatment. Together with an anesthesiologist, we staff the hospital's emergency call function. This entails assisting other departments in urgent situations and, on rare occasions, supporting ambulance services during the transport of patients to nearby hospitals.
As a nurse in IMA, you will work together with a nursing assistant and be responsible for 1-3 patients, which truly allows for close and quality care. We offer you a varied and stimulating job where you can utilize and develop your area of expertise. You will be part of a team while also expected to work independently.
**Your Qualifications**
We are looking for a licensed nurse with specialist training in intensive care, or alternatively, a nurse with a foundational education and experience in emergency/intermediate care.
**Your Competence**
You thrive in a good working environment and can quickly reprioritize tasks. You are comfortable with changing paces and varied assignments. You are confident in your professional role and can make independent decisions in acute situations.
**We Offer**
We offer a permanent full-time position; other work hour arrangements can be discussed. Working hours are from 21:00 to 07:15, with break for meals. We have an individual scheduling model with a points system that allows for reduced working hours and enhanced on-call compensation. Rotating shifts, meaning some work hours during the day/evening, is also possible, with scheduled training during daytime included at least once per term. For those with foundational training, there is an opportunity to subsequently apply for specialist training in intensive care with educational salary from the employer.
We provide a tailored introduction based on previous experience. You are welcome to shadow our department to meet us and gain insight into the care we provide. Start date is 2025-11-01, or by agreement.
As a new employee at the Hospital in Enköping, you will receive a solid and supportive start to your career. In addition to your department-specific introduction, you will also participate in our extensive introductory week for new hires, KULE - Clinical Education Hospital in Enköping, where we offer an interprofessional setup. Here you will meet and collaborate with colleagues from several different professions. For newly graduated nurses, we also offer an enhanced introduction for an additional three months, which includes reflective professional supervision as well as shadowing and coaching from our clinical lecturer. You will also participate in practical training at our Clinical Training Center (KTC), a safe and supportive environment to practice and develop your skills. We offer a dynamic and inspiring workplace where you can make a difference every day. There are also good opportunities for career development, with ongoing further education and the potential for advancement within the hospital and Region Uppsala. We look forward to you becoming part of our team and contributing to making a difference in our patients' lives.
