About this role

Västerås City has removed the requirement for a cover letter from the application process. We are doing this to achieve a better and fairer recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions that will play an important role in our selection work. Do you want to work in a coordinating role within local democracy and be a vital support for both officials and politicians? We are now looking for you to work as a board secretary. **Your Responsibilities** As a board secretary, you will be responsible for the administration of the board process, ensuring that documents and meetings are handled correctly and legally, while maintaining a high quality. You will prepare, conduct, and follow up on meetings of the board and the preparatory committees. You will be an important point of contact between politicians, managers, administrators, and other parts of the organization, where your support and service will be crucial. In the team, you will be one of two board secretaries, and the working group also includes registrars, strategists, and administrators. The unit has a strong focus on development, where every employee contributes to improving our shared processes. As a board secretary, you will participate in the unit's, the administration's, and the city's development work related to case management. You will also be part of a network with other board secretaries and registrars within Västerås City, where you can exchange competencies with one another. **Your Qualifications** We are looking for someone with an academic degree in social sciences, political science, law, public administration, or similar. Alternatively, you may have solid experience as a board secretary. You have knowledge of politically governed organizations. If you also have experience with similar tasks in a politically governed organization, that is a plus. Legal knowledge of the laws governing public operations is also an advantage. We believe you have an interest in public administration and a desire to contribute to a lawful and efficient decision-making process. You are service-oriented and enjoy providing support and assistance to others. You express yourself well in the Swedish language, both spoken and written, communicate clearly, and have good IT skills. Valuable attributes for you include being driven, able to structure your work accurately and efficiently, and enjoying working independently while also being a team player. We support each other and collaborate to create an open and developmental workplace. **We Offer** With us, you will be part of an engaged team of around 15 employees. We work in an open and unpretentious environment where we help each other and collaborate. We believe in trust and freedom with responsibility. This means you will plan your workday yourself, have flexible hours, and the opportunity to work remotely part of the time. The Children and Education Administration of Västerås City is the shared administration for the three educational boards. The administration has a broad focus that spans from preschool to adult education. You will belong to the board and authority unit, where work between operations and politics is coordinated. One of the unit's missions is to ensure that the preparation of cases and the board meetings maintain good quality and high legal security. For this to be possible, the unit collaborates with the rest of the organization to create professional decision-making materials for the boards and good processing processes within the administration, where you will play a central role. Here, you become part of something larger! With warmth and respect, we show initiative in both big and small ways. We live our values in our interactions with each other and those we serve. Every day, year-round, we ensure that Västerås functions well. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues throughout the city, you will have Sweden's most important job.
