The Railway Museum and Ängelholm Aviation Museum are part of the Museums, Art and Culture unit. The unit also includes Gallery Moment and various cultural programs for both children and adults. The unit has approximately 20 permanent employees and some hourly employees, primarily in hosting roles. Currently, the Aviation Museum is closed for renovation, expected to reopen by summer 2026.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a museum host, you have an outward-facing mission focused on providing visitors with the best possible reception. Together with your hosting colleagues, you will provide first-class service to museum visitors and ensure that the café's offerings of cakes and sandwiches always feel fresh and relevant. You will work in both museum cafés preparing sandwiches and salads, and baking cakes. Cash and shop work is included, as well as ensuring that the café, entrance, and shop are always clean and pleasant.
The position also includes driving a mini train in the Railway Museum's park during summer and, year-round, instructing visitors in one of the Aviation Museum's simulators.
The position involves working every other weekend with scheduled hours in the museums' cash/café area. The hosting team is the museums' public face and always provides visitors with a positive first impression.
QUALIFICATIONS
You have a high school diploma, preferably in restaurant or food services. You have since built on your knowledge in the service sector with several years of experience in similar work, gaining an understanding of what is required to be flexible in your professional role and work in a team, sometimes during peak season at a high pace. Previous experience with service and café work, as well as relevant food knowledge, is meritorious.
As a person, you are service-oriented, unpretentious, and communicative. You take responsibility for both your own tasks and the overall work, taking the initiatives needed to ensure smooth teamwork. You have a pleasant and professional demeanor. Enjoying baking is a plus.
You communicate fluently in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, and feel comfortable meeting visitors who speak English. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in Ängelholm is meritorious. You feel confident using the computer as a work tool, and specific experience with Microsoft's most common programs can be seen as an advantage.
The position is 75% with scheduled hours and weekend work. Start date around January 20, 2026. A 6-month probationary period will be applied.
