The Clinical Genomics unit at the Clinical Research Center, Region Örebro County, collaborates with the Laboratory Medicine department and the Faculty of Medicine at Örebro University. The unit focuses on the development of next-generation sequencing (NGS) for clinical diagnostics and national initiatives in genomics. Örebro is part of the national platform Clinical Genomics within the Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab). The goal is to provide service and support in translational research projects and to enable a faster implementation of new high-throughput technologies, such as NGS, in healthcare.

Molecular Biologist for the Clinical Genomics Unit
Responsibilities
We are looking for a person with expertise in molecular biology who will be responsible for genomic research projects that come to Clinical Genomics Örebro in microbiology, as well as developing diagnostic methods. The position includes responsibilities for laboratory work and administrative tasks such as documentation, laboratory supervision, and reporting.
The work is project-based, where you will coordinate projects in consultation with stakeholders, plan analyses, and estimate time requirements. You will independently plan your daily work and be responsible for compiling results. You are expected to work independently but also enjoy collaborating in a team with researchers, medically responsible physicians, molecular biologists, biomedical analysts, and bioinformaticians—therefore, good communication skills are essential.

Qualifications
We are looking for someone who holds a PhD and has relevant education in biology, biomedicine, or molecular biology. You have strong theoretical knowledge of molecular biological and genetic methods as well as microbiology. We require several years of practical experience with NGS and library preparations—particularly in clinical metagenomics. Experience in method development, laboratory automation, and project work and/or research support is advantageous.
We seek someone who is responsible, structured, and meticulous, with a clear commitment to research and development. Since the work occurs in both an international research environment and a diagnostic setting with documentation in Swedish, good knowledge of both Swedish and English, spoken and written, is required. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
