The Role of a Mother Tongue Teacher with Us Regardless of age, a rich and varied language is essential for understanding and participating in a society where cultures, worldviews, generations, and languages converge. We are now looking to expand our operations with more skilled mother tongue teachers who enjoy working with people and pedagogy. This position includes teaching mother tongue and providing study guidance in Tigrinya. As a mother tongue teacher, you will plan, implement, and follow up on the instruction in the subject of mother tongue according to the primary school curriculum. Your role includes assessing and grading students' knowledge. The position also involves study guidance, which means you will support multilingual students in their studies and act as a language bridge between the school, the student, and their home. You will plan, implement, evaluate, and develop the educational work both independently and in collaboration with teachers at the school. You may also support newly arrived children and their guardians in preschool to help them understand and assimilate into preschool routines. Our unit for Multilingual Learning is located in central Kungsbacka and offers workspace and meeting places for all our mother tongue teachers. You will receive support from our lead teachers and ICT pedagogue. As a mother tongue teacher in Kungsbacka, you can work throughout the municipality, from Frillesås in the south to Kullavik in the north. Your Profile To succeed and thrive in this role, you need to be responsible and structured in your approach, communicative, and have an ease in collaborating with colleagues. You possess a high level of personal maturity, are receptive, and can maintain a professional demeanor with students, guardians, and colleagues. You enjoy acquiring new knowledge and sharing your own. You have the courage to seek the information you need and to take the initiative. Personal suitability is of great importance. We are looking for a qualified teacher with a Swedish teaching license. We expect you to have Tigrinya as your mother tongue and be able to speak, read, and write it fluently. It is advantageous if you also have good knowledge of another language. In addition, you must have proficiency in the Swedish language, both spoken and written. To successfully fulfill this role, it is important that you have knowledge of the Swedish educational system and our governing documents. Good computer skills are required, and a B driver's license is desirable. More About Us at the Unit for Multilingual Learning The Unit for Multilingual Learning currently consists of around 50 mother tongue teachers in over 35 different languages. Our operations encompass approximately 1000 children and students from preschool to high school. In our unit, we work on several operational areas to provide support to children and students of all ages. Throughout the school year, we utilize collegial learning to share our knowledge. Our Offer and Additional Information - A permanent position at 20% starting on January 7, 2026, combined with a temporary position at 10% during the spring semester of 2026. Total position for spring 2026: 40%.
