About this role
The position is located within the Environmental and Community Development Administration, which is one of eight administrations in Linköping Municipality. We ensure urban planning takes into account many values: business and culture, traffic and the environment. Now and in the future. Together, we develop an attractive, exciting, and sustainable city. Do you want to improve the everyday life, future, and quality of life for the residents of Linköping? With us, you can combine important assignments with a meaningful daily life. Welcome to join us!
Your Responsibilities
We are now looking for an environmental protection inspector for the Environmental Protection Unit. As an environmental protection inspector, you will work in accordance with the Environmental Code, overseeing and evaluating environmentally hazardous activities. You will also handle various types of incoming notifications and applications. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing service and advice to the municipality's many residents and businesses. We operate in a municipality that is constantly expanding, and many different environmental projects are conducted within the administration, in which you will be involved as an expert in a specific area.
The practical work is carried out both independently and within one of the five workgroups in the unit. It is essential that you actively participate and contribute to the ongoing development work in the office.
Your Workplace
Linköping is a growing municipality where environmental issues continue to have high priority. Therefore, we need to strengthen the Environmental Protection Unit with more staff to help us develop supervision.
As an environmental protection inspector with us, you will be placed in the Environmental Department. We maintain close collaboration within the administration and work in a process-oriented manner. The Environmental Department operates under the Building and Environmental Committee and is led by a department head. The department is organized into four units: the Health Protection Unit, the Climate Unit, the Food Unit, and the Environmental Protection Unit. Each unit is led by a unit manager. Here, you will work with approximately 60 engaged and competent colleagues in a culture characterized by helpfulness and a lack of prestige.
You will be part of the Environmental Protection Unit and work alongside dedicated and skilled colleagues. The unit consists of about 16 environmental protection inspectors. The workplace is located in new facilities in Ebbepark. We work in an activity-based manner, apply flexible hours, and offer the possibility to work part of the time remotely. An annual wellness allowance is provided according to the guidelines applied within Linköping Municipality.
In our organization, you have ample opportunities to develop within the entire environmental field. We welcome your application if, like us, you want to work towards creating a vibrant and secure municipality for all. Together, we develop an attractive, exciting, and sustainable city!
Who You Are
You have a university degree in biology, chemistry, or environmental studies, or other education that the employer deems equivalent. It is advantageous to have worked as an environmental protection inspector or to have experience with environmental issues in private, governmental, or municipal activities.
The job requires that you have a strong ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish, as the work places high demands on both oral communication and written documentation. You also need to have a valid driver’s license, since the position involves travel within the municipality.
To thrive in the role, you should enjoy collaborating with others and have the ability to communicate clearly, as the job involves ongoing contact with our citizens and businesses. We also see that you are confident and stable in yourself and can take responsibility for your work tasks, structuring your work and driving your processes forward. You naturally adapt to changing circumstances as rapid changes and altered directives may occur. Furthermore, you need to maintain your specialist knowledge in the area and be a knowledge resource for others.
In this recruitment, we will use tests as part of our assessment.
We warmly welcome your application!
