The Environmental Administration plays a key role in ensuring that everyone in Stockholm can live in a fresh and healthy environment.
We work with a variety of issues, from investigations of food fraud and chemicals in indoor environments, to evaluating air quality, traffic noise, and urban biodiversity. Please read more about the Environmental Administration on the City of Stockholm's website.
We are 20 environmental and health protection inspectors in the Health Protection and Refrigerant Media unit. Our task is to conduct supervision of schools, preschools, and care facilities. We also handle a large number of refrigerant media reports and perform inspections and sampling at the city's public beaches.
We are part of the Environmental and Health Protection division that conducts supervision over approximately 40 different areas supported by the Environmental Code. The division strives for continuous improvements and is open to new ideas.
The Environmental Administration monitors Stockholm's inner and outer environment and works to ensure everyone lives in a fresh and healthy environment. The administration's work areas are highly diverse, ranging from indoor environments and food hygiene to traffic noise, water quality, and chemicals.
We are now seeking two environmental inspectors for two permanent positions.

Your Role
As an environmental and health protection inspector, you will work in multiple areas of the unit. You will inspect schools, preschools, and care facilities to ensure good indoor environments. You will perform sampling and investigations regarding Legionella. You will also process refrigerant media reports from mobile and stationary refrigerant installations.
Your primary tasks will include:
- Inspecting public spaces and writing inspection reports
- Reviewing refrigerant media reports for legislative compliance
- Making assessments and writing decisions
- Handling incoming complaints
- Working with cases in our case management system ECOS
- Contacting property owners and business operators
- Collaborating with colleagues in the unit and other parts of the Environmental Administration
- Collaborating with other municipalities, central authorities, and industry organizations
- Participating in groups managing and developing assessment grounds and routines
During summer, unit inspectors share beach sampling tasks at city beaches. This means most of us need to be willing to drive. Other unit work may also be possible.
Your Competence and Experience
We are seeking candidates who have:
- College education in environmental and health protection or equivalent education deemed relevant by the employer
- Good knowledge of current environmental legislation
- Strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Swedish
Additional merits include:
- Master's degree in environmental and health protection
- Current experience as environmental and health protection inspector
- Experience independently planning and driving work
- Ability to review reports with extensive numerical data
- Driver's license and willingness to drive
