Environmental Specialist with Coordinating Role in Strategic Railway Project Job Responsibilities In one of the Swedish Transport Administration's largest projects - the New Railway between Gothenburg and Borås - we are now seeking an Environmental Program Coordinator who wants to take responsibility for the overall picture and create clarity around environmental issues. The route between Gothenburg and Borås is divided into several phases, and coordination between the various sub-projects is crucial for effective and sustainable implementation. The program includes a new double-track railway between two of Sweden's largest cities - a stretch with high environmental values, technical challenges, and demands for strategically sustainable development. As the Environmental Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating environmental issues throughout the program. You will support the environmental sub-project managers and specialists in the various sections and ensure that the work is conducted in a structured, uniform manner and in line with environmental legislation and the Swedish Transport Administration's requirements. You will handle overall planning, coordination, governance, and consultation management - always with a focus on dialogue and progress. You will be part of a section with other program-supporting roles within technology, planning, property, and social perspectives. Together, you will build structure and common working methods for cohesive work across the entire program. Examples of Job Tasks • Plan and coordinate the resource needs of environmental specialists • Lead meetings, gather lessons learned, and identify common needs • Develop internal working methods, templates, and tools to ensure requirements are applied consistently and coordinated across the program's projects • Coordinate overall environmental management, including requirement interpretation and authority dialogue • Contribute to environmental assessment strategies and ensure good progress in the program's various phases • Communicate environmental issues internally and externally in a clear and pedagogical manner • Prioritize and create structure in a daily routine with varying pace and many points of contact With us, you will have a role with societal impact, where your work contributes to creating sustainable infrastructure for the future of Sweden. Qualifications We are looking for someone who: • Has a strategic perspective and can see connections between different phases, projects, and needs • Is confident in leading work forward in complex organizations • Communicates clearly, creates consensus, and builds good relationships • Works proactively, organized, and with good foresight Qualifications You have: • A university degree of at least 240 credits (180 ECTS) in environmental science, urban planning, or a related field • Several years of experience coordinating environmental issues in large infrastructure projects • Good knowledge of the Environmental Code and related regulations • Experience in environmental assessment in planning and permitting processes (e.g., railway or road planning) • Excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing It is advantageous if you also have: • Experience with environmental issues in construction or detailed planning • Experience from consultancy, client, or authority side • Further education in environmental management or related fields Application The questions you will need to answer when submitting your application will form the basis for our initial selection.
