Do you want to make a difference in a beautiful mountain environment? We are now seeking an Environmental and Health Protection Inspector for our joint Environment and Building Department for Berg and Härjedalen Municipalities.
Job Responsibilities
Berg and Härjedalen municipalities have a joint Environment and Building Department and Environment and Building Committee. In total, we are approximately 45 employees working on issues related to environmental and health protection, environmental monitoring, food, alcohol, construction, planning, and GIS/measurement. The Environmental, Food, and Alcohol unit has 17 employees, of which eight are Environmental and Health Protection Inspectors. We are now looking for a new colleague for a permanent position. Our offices are located in Funäsdalen, Hede, Vemdalen, Sveg, Hackås, and Svenstavik. We prefer that you be located in Sveg. Since the offices are relatively far apart, a large part of the work is done via Teams and other communication tools, with great opportunities for remote work.
We work towards service-oriented and trustworthy authority exercise in Berg and Härjedalen municipalities.
The role of Environmental and Health Protection Inspector involves conducting supervision and handling incoming cases related to environmental and health protection. The work is interesting and varied, offering good opportunities for development in various areas. Health protection includes supervision of schools, preschools, and swimming pools. Environmental protection involves supervision of environmentally hazardous activities such as industries, gas stations, wastewater treatment plants, wind power, and contaminated areas. The work also includes processing permits and notifications for small sewage systems, environmentally hazardous activities, heat pumps, and responding to referrals. We welcome significant engagement in environmental protection.
Qualifications
We are seeking candidates with education in environmental and health protection or equivalent, including environmental legislation at university or college level, as deemed relevant by the employer. Knowledge of practical application of legislation in the area, primarily the Environmental Code, is meritorious. Experience in environmental and health protection is also advantageous, especially experience with environmental protection, such as supervision of environmentally hazardous activities and contaminated land.
Good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written, are required. Computer proficiency is meritorious, especially experience with Ecos2. A driver's license for passenger cars (B license) is required, as part of your work will take place in various locations in the municipalities.
Both Berg and Härjedalen are Sami administrative municipalities, so knowledge of South Sami language and culture is considered meritorious.
