About this role

We currently have an open position at Södertörn's Environmental and Health Protection Association. We are looking for someone with expertise in environmental protection who wants to contribute their knowledge and experience. With us, you will become part of a team that makes a difference – for both people and the environment. Our Vision "With knowledge, trust, and guidance, we create a sustainable environment and good public health for current and future generations." At Södertörn's Environmental and Health Protection Association, we are a dedicated group working together to create a good living environment for residents and businesses in the municipalities of Haninge, Nynäshamn, and Tyresö. We have a culture of closeness and simplicity that facilitates collaboration and short decision-making paths. Here, we value: • Engagement: We have a culture that drives change by harnessing your commitment and enabling everyone to influence. • Innovation: We encourage ideas and initiatives that can improve and develop our work. • Team Spirit: We believe in collaborating and supporting each other to achieve our common goals. For us, you are an important part of a culture that enhances job satisfaction and performance. With us, you will work in a workplace with a wide range of expertise and the opportunity to specialize within your professional field. About the Department The Environmental Protection Department oversees environmentally hazardous activities across various subject areas (both small and large), responds to consultations, and handles notifications and complaint cases. The role includes managing and investigating cases that vary in scope and complexity. We would like you to have knowledge in waste and mass management, the chemical industry, small boat harbors, consultation management of detailed plans, and contaminated areas. The Environmental Protection Department consists of 11 employees and is led by a department head. We are a wonderful team driven by great commitment. We support each other and learn from one another. In this role, you will plan, monitor, drive, and develop the work and supervision within your area. You will be given significant trust to manage large parts of your job independently. We also work in teams based on our subject areas, collaborating on many issues and driving development both within the teams and at the association level. Therefore, you need to thrive both as a team player and in working with significant personal responsibility. With us, you will work alongside around 50 other colleagues in a workplace with short decision-making paths and the opportunity to specialize within your professional field. Your Background We are looking for someone with a university degree in environmental and health protection or equivalent knowledge of the Environmental Code. Your background reflects solid knowledge of regulatory enforcement, administrative law, the Environmental Code, and other relevant legislation, as well as extensive experience in supervision and assessment of environmental protection cases. Our mission stands on two legs: service and regulatory enforcement. In your role, you are expected to be confident, positive, and pedagogical in your communication and enjoy providing advice and guidance, as well as being able to assume the regulatory role when necessary. As a regulatory officer, it is important to be meticulous and meet deadlines. This role also requires good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written. Since part of the job involves fieldwork through visits, you need to have a B driver's license. We have a pool of environmental cars and bicycles. A Good Day at Work Our vision is "A good day at work," and we strive for a work climate where we are given the opportunity to take initiative, take responsibility, seek solutions, and help each other. We have developed shared values and a workplace culture that we work towards and cherish. Your work environment and professional development are important to us, as are your opportunities for influence and participation in our goals and development work. And we should have fun at work! We have a wellness and social committee that ensures there is always something new happening, and we love to celebrate – both big and small. Once a month, we have a communal breakfast. We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to a good day at work. Therefore, your personal qualities are particularly important. We offer wellness benefits, wellness hours, subsidized massages, flexible working hours, and the possibility to work partially from home. Who are SMOHF? We are Sweden's largest municipal association in the field of the Environmental Code and food safety, working on behalf of the municipalities of Haninge, Tyresö, and Nynäshamn. The area encompasses approximately 175,000 residents in small towns, urban areas, rural areas, and the archipelago. We are located next to Haninge center with shops and restaurants, and Handen commuter train station is just 25 minutes from T-Centralen. There are recreational areas, ski trails, and swimming spots nearby that can be used for wellness activities. The association is in the process of winding down and will cease operations on June 30, 2026. Therefore, the position is time-limited until this date. You will play an important role in the work during this concluding period
