**Job Responsibilities**
As an Environmental Controller, you will play a central role in further developing the region's chemical management efforts. You will become the system administrator and expert who ensures that we meet both legal requirements and high environmental goals. You will have overall responsibility for ensuring that the organization’s work with chemical products and chemicals in goods is effective and compliant with applicable legislation. Your main responsibilities include:
• Acting as the super administrator for our chemical management system and driving its development in collaboration with the supplier.
• Inventorying and coordinating the overall work regarding chemical products.
• Developing, updating, and communicating governing documents for management and risk assessment to support operations in implementation.
• Collaborating with those responsible for occupational health and safety and fire protection on chemical-related issues.
• Driving and following up on the active phase-out of hazardous chemicals and compiling lists of chemical products and chemicals in goods.
• Reviewing chemical products and providing support in formulating and evaluating chemical requirements in procurements.
• Coordinating training and supporting operations on various issues.
• Participating in the work of developing and following up on goals, indicators, and metrics.
• Being responsible for reporting to the municipal water and wastewater treatment company regarding their upstream work.
**About the Workplace**
The position is located within the Sustainability department and belongs to the Regional Administration in Region Västmanland. The department works regionally for sustainable development within its own organization. We contribute with expert knowledge to integrate sustainability into governance and management processes, ensure the conditions for the region to work resource-efficiently, and support operations in achieving sustainability goals. The region is a Finnish administrative area, where the Sustainability department coordinates the work. We handle issues related to the environment and human rights, and we have a total of eight employees.

**Qualifications**
We are looking for someone with an academic degree in environmental chemistry, chemistry, chemical environmental and health risks, toxicology, or other education that we consider equivalent. For this position, we expect you to have experience working with chemical management systems, preferably in an administrative or developmental role. Experience in risk assessment, procurement control, and environmental requirements is an advantage. Furthermore, knowledge of chemical legislation such as REACH, CLP, and the Environmental Code is beneficial. Since the position involves managing various systems and documentation, you need to have good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
