About this role

Are you ready to ensure cranes and lifting equipment operate safely and reliably? At Stegra, we are building a new type of steel industry - and we need experienced mechanics like you to keep operations moving. In this role, you will work hands-on with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure critical equipment always performs at its best. About the Role At Stegra, we're not just building a facility - we're showing that a sustainable industry is possible. To succeed, we need people like you. As a Crane and Lifting Equipment Mechanic in our Mill-wide service team, you'll play a crucial role in keeping our cranes, winches, and lifting systems in operational condition. By ensuring equipment functions as it should, you'll contribute to efficient, safe, and sustainable production. Your responsibilities include: • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on cranes, winches, and other lifting equipment. • Inspecting, servicing, and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. • Troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electromechanical components to minimize downtime. • Supporting operators and technicians by identifying improvement areas and implementing solutions. • Guiding and training colleagues in maintenance work and safety procedures. • Ensuring safety routines like Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO) and proper use of PPE are followed. • Maintaining good order and safety in the work environment. We are looking for someone who: • Has vocational training or high school diploma in mechanics, with good maintenance knowledge. • Holds valid safety certificates for working at height and handling heavy equipment. • Has experience from heavy industry - such as steel mills, manufacturing, or mining. • Understands industry safety standards, regulations, and proper use of protective equipment. • Has a strong safety mindset and preferably experience coaching colleagues in safe working methods. • Is in good physical condition and enjoys practical work, including at heights and in varied environments. • Good English skills; basic Swedish is meritorious. What We Offer If you are passionate about making a difference and contributing to a more sustainable future, Stegra offers a unique opportunity to become part of a dedicated and ambitious team. Here you'll have the chance to shape the future of steel manufacturing while developing your own career in a company that values inclusion, collaboration, and personal development. We believe our success starts with our people - and together we are building a greener tomorrow. • A permanent position in one of Sweden's most exciting industrial projects. • Competitive salary and benefits according to collective agreement. • 25 vacation days per year as per Swedish law. • Full relocation support, including assistance with housing, travel arrangements, and moving compensation. • Visa sponsorship where applicable. • Modern, purpose-built facilities in Boden focused on safety, sustainability, and innovation. • A supportive and inclusive work environment where everyone is encouraged to grow and develop. Working in Boden Our facility in Boden is located in the middle of a growing green industrial cluster in northern Sweden. This is where we are building one of the world's most modern and sustainable steel facilities. With just a 10-minute commute from the center, you'll be close to groundbreaking technology and the everyday life of a community with a strong sense of community. Your Application Studies show that women and underrepresented groups often hesitate to apply if they don't meet all requirements. At Stegra, we are building a values-driven and sustainable company - and we need a diverse and inclusive team to succeed. If you share our passion but do not meet every single qualification, we still encourage you to apply. You might be the perfect candidate for this role - or another, as we continue to grow. About Stegra Stegra aims to transform the global steel industry by producing green hydrogen, iron, and steel - with the goal of eliminating carbon dioxide emissions. Instead of coal, we use green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity, which means our primary emissions will be water and heat. Our ambition is to produce 5 million tons of green steel annually by 2030 in our fully integrated, digitalized, and sustainable facility in Boden, northern Sweden - which is currently under construction.
