Infectious Diseases Clinic is a county and regional clinic with broad activities and University Healthcare Unit status. The clinic has a care ward with 19 beds and an outpatient clinic. Inpatient care primarily consists of acute infectious disease care. Conditions such as sepsis, pneumonia, pyelonephritis, skin and soft tissue infections, intestinal infections, COVID-19, influenza, endocarditis, and tuberculosis are common. The outpatient clinic includes an emergency department. There is also travel medicine services. Outpatient activities are mainly focused on the profile diagnoses of hepatitis, HIV, tuberculosis, immunodeficiency, and carrier status of multidrug-resistant bacteria. Tuberculosis Center North is based at the infectious diseases clinic. A needle exchange program is located adjacent to the infectious diseases clinic. The clinic conducts extensive consultation services. The Infectious Diseases Clinic, together with the Department of Clinical Microbiology at Umeå University, is responsible for clinical infectious disease research, and research activity is high. Student teaching for healthcare education is integrated into daily activities. Over 110 people work at the clinic. We are now seeking a Medical Director who wants to work with and develop the Infectious Diseases Clinic in Umeå. RESPONSIBILITIES As Medical Director, you will see the big picture and potential, and courageously move us forward. You will act as a role model and work to create shared visions and unleash action potential in your organization, taking responsibility for your activities within your authority and representing the employer by leading and developing towards agreed goals for the Region's benefit. In your role as Medical Director, you will report directly to the clinic manager and be part of the Infectious Diseases management team, actively participating in clinic-wide strategic issues. Together with department heads, you will lead and plan operations and have close cooperation with the clinic manager. You will play a crucial role in improvement work, patient safety issues, and collaboration with various partners. You will contribute to organizational development to achieve our vision. You will have personnel and work environment responsibility for a number of specialist physicians and junior doctors. We seek someone skilled at encouraging and supporting employees, recognizing their personal potential and contribution to the organization's overall goals, and creating conditions for employee growth and collective goal achievement. You will be responsible for physician recruitment and scheduling. You are also expected to maintain the allocated budget. You will stay well-informed about the unit's monthly results and production, and take appropriate actions if anything deviates. The Medical Director position is 50% and will be combined with clinical service. QUALIFICATIONS You are a licensed physician with specialist training in Infectious Diseases. Previous leadership experience is meritorious. You have the ability to create good relationships and collaboration, both internally with employees and externally. You are a confident and attentive leader who leads with trust, builds trustworthy collaborations, and promotes a positive work environment. You value good structure and foresight in your work. You work systematically with clarity and routines for your work group. You are initiative-driven and enjoy driving change, taking independent initiatives, and being an active force behind organizational development. You encourage your employees to think innovatively about processes and patient flows and create conditions to test new working methods that contribute to improved care. A prerequisite for the role is excellent Swedish language skills, and we prefer strong communication abilities in speech and writing.
