We are now seeking a personal assistant who is positive, flexible, and has a professional approach.
It is very important to us that our members receive high-quality assistance, and you will be a vital part of that. You are calm and secure, and you are not afraid to be clear. Previous experience working with people, professional experience in care and support, and/or education in the field are advantageous. Experience working with individuals with autism is highly meritorious!
However, the most important factor is your interest in working with people, and ultimately, it is your personal suitability and chemistry with the member that will determine the fit.
The member you will be working with is a young man born in 1992, diagnosed with infantile autism and intellectual disability. He lives in his own apartment in central Eskilstuna and requires assistance around the clock. The member enjoys taking walks, listening to music, and watching sports on TV. You will be a part of the member's daily life, with all that it entails.
Your responsibilities will include tasks such as cooking, cleaning, assisting with dressing and undressing, as well as participating in various activities with the member. You will provide active support in creating structure and predictability in daily life. For the member's well-being, it is important to maintain a safe and stable environment, as anxiety can lead to challenging behaviors. Additionally, this is not a physically demanding role.
The member is non-verbal but understands most of what others say. Some supportive signs are used to facilitate communication.
The position is 89% and the shifts are scheduled for daytime from 8 AM to 7 PM and night shifts from 7 PM to 8 AM, with approximately 3.5 hours of on-call duty each night. We are also looking for substitutes who can step in on short notice as well as for planned absences. The start date is as soon as possible.
