Are you passionate about development work and have a passion for nutrition and meal science? Then you might be the person we are looking for in the role of Meal Development Specialist for the Care and Social Services Administration in Östersund Municipality.
As a Meal Development Specialist, you will work independently and creatively to develop meal situations for our citizens, focusing on food's nutritional content, presentation, and the social interaction associated with meals. Your task is to promote a positive meal environment and situation for the citizens we serve.
You will be based at our office on Österäng (Rådhusgatan 72) in central Östersund. The position is 100% and a probationary period may be applied. Working hours are daytime, Monday to Friday, with start date on January 1, 2026, or by agreement.
Your New Job
Home Care and Special Housing is one of two sectors within the Care and Social Services Administration in Östersund Municipality. The sector includes four operational tracks: Central Home Care, Southern Special Housing/Home Care, Northern Special Housing/Home Care, and Rehabilitation, Health, and Medical Care. You will work across all operations, initially focusing on full-time care services such as our special housing, short-term accommodations, and respite care. As a Meal Development Specialist, you will belong to the Unit for Meeting Places and Family Support.
In the role of Meal Development Specialist, you will work to promote a positive and pleasant meal environment for citizens in our operations, focusing on increasing well-being and quality of life for older people. You will collaborate with various units and stakeholders to ensure that meals not only meet the nutritional needs of our citizens but also create a social and stimulating experience. This may involve collaboration with meal services, dementia teams, activity coordinators, dietitians, and development specialists. It may also involve supporting work teams at different units.
You will drive development work and implement new approaches and routines to improve the meal environment and support ensuring that units work according to the National Food Agency's meal model. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and implementing skills development for operational staff regarding the importance of food and meals.
The role includes participating in unit resident councils and family meetings to gather feedback and continuously improve the meal environment based on citizens' needs and wishes.

Requirements
• Relevant educational background: Food Economist, Nutrition Science degree, Dietitian, Food and Meal Science degree, or other post-secondary education deemed relevant by the employer
• Class B driver's license
