About this role

What you'll do We are currently seeking a Lead Process Safety Engineer for our Central Engineering Team. In this role, you will report to the Central Engineering Manager and work within the Project Delivery function. Your role is critical in ensuring the safe and compliant operation of the project's assets. You will be responsible for ensuring that all project facility designs prioritize safety and minimize risks to staff, contractors, and the surrounding community. This involves closely collaborating with project engineering contractors and equipment vendors to review and validate design safety aspects. You will define project safety standards, considering applicable regulatory requirements and industry best practices. These standards will serve as guidelines for all project stakeholders, including the engineering team, contractors, and vendors. Responsibilities: • Ensuring Design Safety: Guarantee that all project facility designs prioritize safety and minimize risks to staff, contractors, and the surrounding community. Collaborate closely with engineering contractors and equipment vendors to review and validate design safety aspects. • Establishing Safety Standards: Define project safety standards, taking into account regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Establish clear and comprehensive guidelines for all project stakeholders to ensure consistency and compliance. • Mapping Regulatory Requirements: Work closely with regulatory bodies and third-party specialists to identify and understand project-specific regulatory requirements. Stay updated on safety regulations, interpret their implications, and effectively communicate these requirements to all stakeholders. • Stakeholder Communication: Ensure all stakeholders are aware of safety requirements and standards. Facilitate effective communication channels to disseminate safety information, address concerns, and resolve compliance issues. • Compliance Assurance: Establish a clear system for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards. Assign clear ownership for each requirement and implement mechanisms for regular monitoring, inspections, and audits. Report to the Central Engineering Manager to maintain compliance throughout the project lifecycle. By effectively executing these responsibilities, you will contribute to delivering a safe and legally compliant asset that protects worker and community well-being for years to come. Specifically for this role, we are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria: • Engineering degree (MSc) in a relevant discipline. • Minimum ten years experience in large-scale industrial projects (50 MUSD+) and/or site experience (steel mill, mining, paper mill, utilities generation, Oil & Gas, petrochemicals, refinery, etc.), with at least four years in a technical safety-related role. • Experience in HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, Risk Assessments, Occupational safety, Hazards and Effects management. • Experience with Hydrogen systems / LNG is a significant advantage. • Mandatory knowledge of relevant Swedish/European/EU/International standards, Laws & Regulations related to Technical Process Safety and Industrial Safety requirements. • Mandatory knowledge of relevant permitting systems and consent to operate for major industrial project plants.
