About this role

In the county, IVO has also criticized collaboration and care during inspections. The establishment of this position is a political decision. Your employment will be within Vårdval Västernorrland in the Regional Management Office in the area of Planning and Political Support. The assignment is of a strategic and coordinating nature and aims to contribute to equitable care and treatment of the elderly population in Västernorrland. Vårdval Västernorrland is organizationally placed within the Regional Management Office in the Regional Management Administration. The unit's mission primarily involves providing support to officials and budget management for the Regional Council's political order for primary care and pediatric dental care according to the Act on Choice of Care System (LOV). The operation also includes a mandate to provide central support for maternal and child health care in the county. We are now seeking a Chief Physician for Elderly Care. The chief physician position is a permanent employment of approximately 75% with the possibility of combined employment in other operations/research. Start date is February 1, 2026, or as agreed. Chief Physician for Elderly Care to Planning/Political Support, Region Västernorrland Job Responsibilities The unit offers a variety of tasks and provides excellent opportunities for professional development, in a closely collaborating team with extensive contacts both within and outside the county. The role includes: • Contributing medical, ethical, and legal expertise in the field of elderly care • Facilitating collaboration between different levels of care and specialties for a cohesive care chain Your work will be in close cooperation with medically responsible physicians within primary care and the medically responsible nurses in the municipalities, as well as those responsible for rehabilitation, which is key to the assignment. You will also contribute to quality monitoring and development by: • Identifying and proposing indicators for follow-up • Keeping up with current research and development in the field • Developing and updating medical guidelines and routines in collaboration with partners The assignment also includes training based on needs in identified areas, as well as participation in councils/networks that are relevant to the assignment and within the framework of knowledge governance. Additional Information Qualifications We are looking for someone who: • Is a licensed physician with specialist competence in general medicine and/or geriatrics • Has 3 years of full-time clinical service after obtaining specialist competence • Has good knowledge of the legislation governing the conditions of primary care and the primary care reform • Has at least 4 years of work experience in the field of elderly care/elderly health • Has good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written • Holds a valid driver's license (B) It is advantageous if you: • Have a defined medical responsibility and/or area of expertise • Have teaching and mentoring experience • Have leadership and administrative experience/training • Have a doctorate in a relevant subject area • Have research qualifications To succeed in this role, we believe you possess the following personal qualities: • Self-driven • Holistic perspective • Collaborative ability • Quality-conscious Region Västernorrland With approximately 7,000 employees and over 200 professions, we at Region Västernorrland are responsible for several of the most important services that enable residents to participate in society.
