About this role

Are you a PhD in analytical chemistry with extensive LC-MS experience? Then this might be the role for you. Haeger & Carlsson is now recruiting an LC-MS Scientist for Novavax in Uppsala. We are seeking a candidate with a PhD in a relevant life science discipline, preferably analytical organic chemistry. You have several years of LC-MS experience, including method development, optimization, data management, and instrument maintenance. The role involves working in a dynamic R&D environment where assignments range from early exploratory research activities to late development phase and finished product. You are someone who thrives working independently, has strong problem-solving skills, and is accustomed to adapting your approach to different materials and project phases. You will report to the Adjuvant Characterization Manager and the position is located at Novavax AB in Uppsala. Novavax AB in Uppsala is a fully owned subsidiary of the American parent company Novavax Inc. Novavax AB develops and produces Matrix-M™, a saponin-based vaccine adjuvant. Adjuvants are substances added to a vaccine to enhance the body's immune response. Together with Novavax Inc., which has developed an effective production system for vaccine antigens, Novavax AB works on developing various vaccine candidates. Responsibilities: • Plan, execute, and evaluate laboratory experiments in LC-MS, including method development and optimization • Maintain and troubleshoot LC-MS instrumentation • Compile, analyze, and report LC-MS data in scientific articles, reports, and presentations • Participate as an expert in project teams and provide support and advice on LC-MS-related issues • Contribute to the development and improvement of analytical methods, sample preparation, and instrument qualification • Collaborate with other team members and external partners to ensure high quality and scientific accuracy Qualifications: • PhD in a relevant life science field, preferably analytical organic chemistry • Several years of experience in mass spectrometry, HPLC, and LC-MS method development and optimization • Solid experience in laboratory work, as well as evaluation, compilation, and reporting of LC-MS data • Experience with maintenance and troubleshooting of LC-MS instruments • Proficient in independently planning, executing, and evaluating laboratory LC-MS work • Experience working in quality-assured environments (GMP, GLP, or similar) • Ability to independently document and present results in various forums • Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing Meritorious Qualifications: • Experience in natural product chemistry • Experience with sample preparation, such as SPE or other LC-MS-related methods • Knowledge of method validation and instrument qualification • Experience with multivariate evaluation of LC-MS data
