About this role
Värmdö is the archipelago's meeting place with a unique combination of nature's serene beauty and a more urban lifestyle. Our mission is not one, but many: school, properties, social services, harbors, healthcare, libraries, care services and many more. We work to ensure that all Värmdö residents can live a rich and free life. We want to be the enablers of the dream of a vibrant and secure environment for homes, families, and businesses.
To fully succeed, we must have extensive competencies and work together towards a shared and trusting work culture, built on courageous, responsible employees who understand the needs and wishes of residents.
Teacher for Middle School at Viks School
Värmdö is part of the Stockholm archipelago and has a unique nature with over 10,000 islands.
Here, land meets sea, just 30 minutes from Stockholm. In our historic main town, Gustavsberg, there is a long tradition of design and form that continues through an ongoing commitment to art and culture. The municipality has nearly 40,000 inhabitants, of which just over 10,000 live in Gustavsberg. We have a very young population where every fourth resident is under 15 years old. Värmdö is also one of the fastest-growing municipalities in the country. This dynamism is also reflected in Värmdö municipality as an employer.
Viks School is a municipal school with a cultural focus. The school is located about 6 km east of Gustavsberg in an older area near forest and sea. Viks School is a preschool-6th grade school with approximately 520 students and 70 employees. We place great emphasis on our shared values. We aim to be a school that breathes confidence and trust, where everyone feels safe and where everyone has great opportunities to succeed. At Viks School, we want to highlight the positive and illuminate what works well for all students and each other. We are a school that wants to give our students an overview and context to grow as learning and independent individuals.
Viks School has a cultural orientation, which among other things means that we work with fiction as an important basis for teaching. It also means that we highlight our democratic mission through various cultural projects.
Now we need to expand with a teacher with broad competence and experience. We are looking for someone who is a licensed teacher qualified to teach Swedish, Social Studies, and English in grades 4-6.
You have a strong interest in teaching development and the ability to create varied and accessible instruction for all. You always focus on students' development and learning and understand the importance of good relationships with all students. Additionally, we hope you find it easy to collaborate and contribute collegially with your knowledge and expertise.
As a teaching instructor, you are responsible for planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of instruction together with your team. We place great importance on personal suitability and the ability to collaborate with all school staff.
It is important that you are confident in your professional role and understand the importance of close cooperation and good dialogue with guardians.
Our joint conferences are based on collegial learning and continuous development of our focus areas. This school year, we have started implementation and training for all staff on PBS - Positive Behavior Support in schools, an approach that aims to work systematically at group and individual levels to promote a safe and inclusive school environment. Shared time for evaluation and follow-up of instruction in the grade level is scheduled every week.
