About this role
We have made a decision! We aim to become a leading municipality – and we have everything it takes to succeed. Short decision-making paths, collaboration across departmental boundaries, and a willingness to dare more. Our high ambitions provide you, with your own drive, opportunities to grow and create positive change for our citizens. As an employee of Ekerö Municipality, you will play a valuable role in our unique archipelago world – and we look forward to your application.
UPPGÅRDSSKOLAN is a municipal secondary school for students in grades 7 to 9. The school is located next to Stenhamra Center, Färingsö in Ekerö Municipality. The school has approximately 340 students distributed in classes of about 21 to 26 students.
We take pride in and value a calm and safe school environment in nice facilities with green areas directly adjacent to the school. We have a strong and competent teaching staff, and opportunities are provided for the development of both teaching and learning, as well as your own growth as an educator. As a teacher, you stimulate and support students based on their individual conditions and needs. As a mentor, you are the single most important person at the school for the student – skills such as building relationships and fostering meaning and context are of great importance.
We advocate for and work towards the student's right to develop as far as possible by maintaining a high quality of teaching and placing the student's knowledge development at the center.
Job Description
In Ekerö Municipality, teachers are afforded time for children and instruction – today we are one of Sweden's leading school municipalities. Our surroundings are perfectly suited to connect with aspects of the curriculum, thanks to our rich nature and cultural history. To provide students with the best possible conditions, our municipal schools continuously share experiences and lessons learned with each other. Here, we view collegial learning as a prerequisite for student development.
We are now seeking a teacher in Social Studies and English for the secondary school until June 2026, with a possibility for extension.
We are looking for a driven and positive teacher who places students' learning at the center. You are accustomed to working goal-oriented and formatively with your students. You are a clear leader in the classroom and create good relationships with your students. You are curious, solution-oriented, and interested in pedagogical development and research. If this describes you, then you are the one we are looking for!
You will be a mentor for a class alongside a mentoring colleague. The primary teaching will be in Social Studies and English during the 2025/2026 school year.
We are a "just-right-sized" secondary school with four parallel classes. We have small groups of around 21-26 students. We have a special educational group at the school and a flexible program for students who need support at certain times or in specific subjects. Our vision is to be a place where we make a difference; we believe that we can make a difference in the big picture by valuing the small details. We do this by focusing on both knowledge and relationships, as well as being careful to see and meet every student and colleague.
Collegial learning is important; you will thus belong to a work team/year group where you will meet mentoring colleagues. This group is led by a grade developer. Each subject also has its subject team where you, along with your subject colleagues, will co-plan and develop your subjects.
We work extensively on safety and well-being. We have a calm and pleasant environment and very nice students. The school has a safety team consisting of the principal, teaching assistants/student coaches, special educators, and counselors who support teachers in maintaining a calm and safe space for everyone.
With us, you have the opportunity to be part of developing your subjects and the school as a whole while you also meet a well-established organization with room for collaboration and collegial meetings.
Qualifications
To succeed in the role, you should be:
• A qualified teacher
• A clear leader in the classroom
• Have basic ICT competency
• Experienced in working goal-oriented and tailored to individual needs.
We are well-equipped digitally and would like you to be comfortable and interested in working digitally with students and in your day-to-day activities. We use Teams and Unikum; prior experience with these or similar systems is an asset.
Start Date: As soon as possible upon agreement
Employment Type: Full-time
Contract Type: Temporary
