About this role

Description At Schillerska Gymnasium's introductory program, the Individual Alternative ESA - Extra Support and Adaptation, approximately 110 students are enrolled who, for various reasons, have not achieved passing grades from primary school and are thus not eligible for high school. Our mission is to help students become qualified for a national program or other education. The students are divided into smaller groups, and each student follows their individual study plan, meeting their current situation and educational goals. Responsibilities As a teacher in Schillerska Gymnasium's introductory program, you will adapt and organize the learning environment/teaching to make education accessible for all students. Teaching the ESA students requires high demands for innovation and creativity while maintaining a clear structure. You need to be a team player who values and recognizes the importance of collaboration with your colleagues. In this collaboration, you contribute to creating good conditions for the school's students to thrive, develop, and reach their goals. By being interested, attentive, and fostering understanding for others, you work towards a respectful working climate. The position includes active mentorship, dedicating much time to individual guidance and discussions with students and guardians, as well as close collaboration with the student health team. You build trusting relationships with students and guardians, supporting students by being knowledgeable about their needs and goals. Qualifications We are looking for a teacher qualified to teach mathematics, science subjects, and technology at primary and secondary school levels. You have strong digital competencies and communicate fluently in both spoken and written Swedish. Additional subject qualifications and/or special educational competencies are considered advantageous. As a person, you have a strong pedagogical ability and can motivate and inspire those you encounter. You recognize the importance of building good and trusting relationships with our students and can meet them where they are, stimulating and encouraging them in their development towards their goals. You encourage dialogue, participation, and engagement, and actively work with, among other things, formative assessment to provide each student with good conditions to achieve their goals. You can explain concepts to different audiences and from various perspectives. Experience working with students in need of special support and the use of compensatory tools in teaching is important. You have experience working with youth and are known for your ability to connect with students and create good relationships. You have experience working with students with various types of learning difficulties and neurodevelopmental disorders. You also have experience and knowledge of working with students with mental health issues, risky behaviors, and significant school absenteeism. You have a genuine interest in the situation of young people and are responsive to the needs of various students, demonstrating a supportive approach. You possess strong collaborative skills, as a significant part of the role involves close cooperation with colleagues and the student health team. Furthermore, you should be willing to engage with research on teaching development, youth psychology, and motivation strategies. The introductory program is an evolving environment, and as a teacher, you need to be confident and maintain structure and engagement, even when the conditions for the role change. Great emphasis is placed on good collaboration skills, creativity, and flexibility. Do not wait to apply; interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis.
