About this role

Description Karlstad Municipality is developing an industrial technology center with the goal of making the Karlstad region a national and regional growth engine. By developing and operating the industrial center in close collaboration with industry companies and Karlstad University, we establish a direct link between academia and the workforce, ensuring that our training programs are always relevant and in demand. The aim is to provide our students, learners, and professionals with significant career opportunities while companies gain access to the right competencies. As part of this initiative, Karlstad Technical Center is launching vocational training in CNC and workshop technology. Karlstad Technical Center is part of the upper secondary and adult education administration within the Karlstad Municipality group. The mission of Karlstad Technical Center is to invest in the future alongside the business community by creating education and learning environments that equip the workforce with the right skills at the right time. The school offers various vocational higher education programs, upper secondary engineering programs, and commissioned training. Responsibilities We are seeking a teacher to participate in teaching and developing our new vocational training programs, initially focused on machining/CNC. In this role, you will work with adult students. You will develop the teaching based on the curriculum packages provided by the National Agency for Education, in close collaboration with our industry partners. You will also collaborate closely with support functions and colleagues within the administration. Qualifications We are looking for a qualified vocational teacher or someone with extensive professional experience in machining/CNC. You possess strong pedagogical skills and can easily translate your practical experience into theoretical and practical teaching in the classroom. It is essential that you have experience programming CNC machines and are familiar with Office 365. Excellent oral and written proficiency in Swedish, a good command of English, and a valid driver's license (class B) are also required. We prefer candidates who are certified as a green leader in CNC, or who hold a green or blue certificate. If you have education at the vocational higher education or university level in machining and knowledge of other languages, this is considered a plus. Proficiency and experience in CAD/CAM and computer-controlled production are also advantageous. As a person, we expect you to be responsive and flexible with strong collaborative skills. You are capable and willing to take significant responsibility in creating an attractive and modern vocational education where students can thrive and develop. You recognize the importance of collaboration in a collegial context and actively contribute new ideas within the framework of teaching, striving to motivate all students based on their diverse backgrounds and circumstances. We see that you work to maintain high quality in education based on scientific grounds and proven experience. This position is a permanent employment, provided that you hold a teaching certification. If you do not have certification, you will receive a temporary position with an action plan that involves obtaining certification during your ongoing employment. About Karlstad Municipality The upper secondary and adult education administration is responsible for the education of approximately 7,000 students within upper secondary school, adapted upper secondary school, adult education at basic and upper secondary levels, vocational higher education, and Swedish for immigrants.
