The Memory Disorders Care Unit (VE) is a specialist clinic that offers assessment and treatment of memory disorders as well as suspected dementia and cognitive impairment in both older and younger individuals. Our operations are conducted in new facilities centrally located at Triangeln in Malmö. We have a well-established outpatient service with a specialist clinic, mobile outpatient teams, and the Memory Health Unit. Our operations also include a unit for clinical drug trials. We conduct research and education with a strong clinical connection, which permeates the entire organization. We work in close collaboration with primary care, municipalities, and other operational areas within Skåne University Hospital.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a laboratory assistant for our studies where we investigate and map both Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. We have recently demonstrated in internationally recognized studies that we can accurately diagnose Alzheimer's disease with a simple blood test and also detect the presence of Parkinson-related pathology through analysis of cerebrospinal fluid. Moving forward, we will build upon these and other research advancements to continue being one of the leading research clinics in the world.
In this position, there is an opportunity to work on several of our studies focusing on Alzheimer's disease, in close collaboration with researchers, research nurses, and administrators.
As a laboratory assistant, you will be responsible for sample handling and analyses in our large cohort studies, which encompass thousands of samples. Statistical analyses, report writing (including contributions to scientific articles), and other tasks within the research group may also be relevant. Together with other research staff, you will plan your tasks based on the needs of the organization and your expertise.
In our unit, we work in groups consisting of, among others, doctors, nurses, biomedical analysts, nursing assistants, medical secretaries, and other administrative personnel. Your colleagues in the unit all have extensive experience working with and broad knowledge of cognitive diseases, regardless of their professional category.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with experience in laboratory work, including analyses using Meso Scale Discovery and Simoa platforms. Good skills in oral and written communication in English are a requirement. Experience in research related to neurodegenerative diseases is a strong merit. A doctoral degree (or planned defense before starting the position) is also a strong merit.
In your work, you are very meticulous and systematic with the ability to prioritize in a changing work pace. Personal qualities will be given significant weight.
