We are seeking a skilled Social Studies teacher for our Learning Studio who will teach Social Studies and potentially English during the spring semester of 2026.
Thereafter, the Learning Studio will be part of the resource school that Haninge is starting in autumn 2026. Positions in this organization will be announced in the spring, with the possibility of continuing to work in a special teaching group. In our Learning Studio, we have one 7th-grade class, one 8th-grade class, one 9th-grade class, and a mixed 7-9 grade class. We have between 4-11 students per class. We are a team consisting of four student coaches and four subject teachers who teach together. All students have practical-aesthetic subjects with subject teachers from other teams.
Söderbymalmsskolan is a large school for grades 7-9 with approximately 465 students. On July 1, 2021, we moved to a completely new school building right next to the commuter train, bus terminal, and green areas. The Learning Studio is purposefully adapted, with each classroom having its own group room, interactive whiteboards, sound-dampening student desks, and excellent digital connectivity. We have a large school restaurant with its own kitchen, and staff eat pedagogical lunch with students. Our new, bright, modern facilities are centrally located in Haninge, close to shopping centers, restaurants, natural areas with swimming and skiing/running trails, buses, and Handen commuter train station, just 23 minutes from Central Station. Haninge municipality offers its employees wellness vouchers and a well-equipped gym in the municipal building, located 500 meters from the school and free for municipal employees.
Söderbymalmsskolan has so far had around 90% licensed teachers. We have six lead teachers. We are an IT school where all students have their own computers. Students work in Google Workspace, and results are tracked in the digital tool Unikum. At Söderbymalmsskolan, everyone focuses on increased goal achievement, and we highly value knowledge in all subjects. We have high expectations.
Our student health team includes a school nurse, a career counselor, and two full-time counselors. We have an active student council and a safety team that acts immediately if anything happens.
Staff Group Description
Approximately 70 staff members work at the school. Staff surveys clearly show high job satisfaction, with our approach to each other mentioned as a key factor. We have a stable and competent teaching group that wants to develop their teaching and meets weekly in subject groups to co-plan lessons, which we're happy to elaborate on.
Your Assignment
Teach students in the Learning Studio in Social Studies and potentially English for grades 7-9. The Learning Studio is a municipality-wide support intervention for students needing comprehensive school situation support. Mentorship. Collaboration with other school teachers and staff.
Your Competence/Qualifications
You have a teaching license. You have experience teaching students with NPF in grades 7-9. You have experience teaching students in smaller teaching groups. You have experience teaching students within the autism spectrum, students with dyslexia or language disorders. You have strong communication skills, great patience, and the ability to see students' strengths. You have well-developed collaboration skills and interest in working with colleagues regarding students. You have good leadership and personal maturity. You are empathetic, proactive, and feel strong commitment to all students. You have basic IT skills.
