Vänerskolan in Vänersborg offers bilingual instruction in a sign language environment for students from preschool to grade 10. Our students receive instruction in both Swedish sign language and written Swedish. We provide accommodation for those who cannot commute to school every day.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Substitute Teacher for Lower Primary.
As a substitute teacher, you will plan, implement, follow up, and evaluate teaching in accordance with the school's goals and governing documents. You will adapt the instruction based on the students' circumstances and needs. You will collaborate with colleagues and teams to create a cohesive learning experience for the students.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who meets the following requirements:
- Certified teacher
- Experience teaching in a special school for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Proficient in Swedish sign language and Swedish
- Basic IT skills
- Basic knowledge of educational programs and their application.
The following are advantageous:
- Experience teaching students with disabilities
- Strong knowledge of how to teach in a sign language environment
- Good familiarity with the school's governing documents
- Strong skills in making instruction accessible for each student
- Knowledge and experience in working with language development
- Understanding of the implications of being deaf/hard-of-hearing in the learning environment.
Personal qualities:
You are meticulous, cooperative, and independent. You place the student at the center and adapt your teaching and approach based on each student's needs.
