About this role
Transition Teacher – a Key Role for Enhanced School Attendance
Description
We are currently seeking several dedicated teachers who, in their primary role, want to create favorable conditions for students transitioning from grade 6 to 7.
The positions are located at our secondary schools and involve working in both upper primary and lower secondary units. The purpose of the role is to create a secure transition through supportive relationships that contribute to effective learning and positive development for students moving from grade 6 to grade 7.
You will have an important preventive function to ensure a successful start to school for students beginning secondary education.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will teach students who have varying needs for additional support to achieve positive development in school. Instruction may take place in alternative learning environments, which could involve working outside the regular classroom and school. The focus is on building secure, trusting, and pedagogically functional relationships between school staff and students, which is crucial for learning and development to occur.
You will actively collaborate with both upper primary and lower secondary staff to create continuity and a cohesive approach in students' development. During the spring term, the focus will be on meeting students in grade 6 and becoming acquainted with individual students' school situations, learning, and needs to create favorable conditions for the transition to secondary school, while the autumn term primarily involves ensuring a safe and supportive start to grade 7.
The position is tied to a secondary school, but the workplace may vary as you work closely with the upper primary level. You will also have close collaboration with teachers, guardians, and the student health team.
As this is a term-time position, some working hours may be scheduled during school holidays.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who holds a teaching certification with authorization to teach in grades 7–9. Previous experience working with students in need of special support or in alternative learning environments is valuable, as the role involves a strong focus on individualized interventions and relationship-building work.
As a person, you have a strong ability to build relationships, are flexible and independent in your work, and are genuinely committed to supporting students' development and learning. You possess excellent collaboration skills, as the work involves close cooperation with both upper primary and secondary staff as well as guardians.
