Your Responsibilities
As a teacher, your focus is on planning, teaching, evaluation, and value-based work based on the curriculum. You will work with students in grades 7-9 and be responsible for teaching mathematics, all science subjects, and/or technology. The position also includes mentorship, where you will become an important source of security and guidance for a group of students.
You will work both independently and together with colleagues, guardians, and other professionals at the school to create the best possible conditions for each student. Using digital tools is a natural part of teaching, and you are expected to create a varied, challenging, and stimulating learning environment.
Collegial learning is a matter of course with us. You will participate in subject and work teams, reflect together with colleagues, and actively contribute to teaching development and a safe learning environment. Teaching is planned in work teams where you regularly exchange experiences, create shared understanding, and develop methods together. In addition to weekly work team meetings, subject teams also meet several times a year for skills development and to drive pedagogical progress.
We work in close collaboration with research, and in the science subjects, there is a cooperation with Umeå University on memory training and test-based learning. This gives you access to modern teaching methods that strengthen students' learning and your own development.
Your Workplace
Berzeliusskolan is a modern, newly renovated, and centrally located school in Linköping, where knowledge, community, and development are in focus. Approximately 750 students and around 100 committed employees from grades 7-9 and high school meet here. You will become part of a large collegial environment where collaboration and mutual support are key.
Teachers work closely together, and cooperation is a central part of our culture. Teaching is planned and developed in work teams where you regularly meet colleagues to exchange experiences, create shared understanding, and drive teaching development. In addition to weekly work team meetings, subject teams also meet several times a year for joint skills development and to continue developing teaching.
We offer a secure start with clear introduction, mentor support, and established work processes. We have a complete student health team with counselors, school nurses, psychologists, student coaches, special education teachers, and special educators on-site, allowing you to truly focus on teaching and classroom leadership.
Who We're Looking For
We primarily seek candidates with a teaching license qualified to teach mathematics and one or more science subjects in grades 7-9. Secondarily, we seek those with a completed teacher education program for grades 7-9, or those nearing the end of their teacher education. It is meritorious to have qualifications in technology.
It is a requirement to have experience working in curriculum-driven schools through internship or employment. It is advantageous to have taught in grades 7-9 for at least one academic year. Experience in grading or documenting student learning during the academic year is also meritorious.
In your role as a teacher in grades 7-9, you have good knowledge of the school's mission and are familiar with the curriculum (Lgr22) and other guiding documents. You have strong communication skills in spoken and written Swedish to organize and conduct work that supports students' language and communication development as per the curriculum.
As a teacher, you are a good role model. You can adapt your teaching to students and involve them in shaping the instruction. You create good conditions for student development and learning in a quality-conscious manner and document this effectively. You collaborate well with colleagues, guardians, and other contacts in your professional role.
