We offer
We are looking for a teacher who is confident in their role and works in the higher grades of primary school and is seeking a new challenge in their profession! The students are located abroad and have different conditions for succeeding in their studies. Students in Sweden have a complicated school background and receive distance education as special support. Teachers collaborate with an IT team and a special educator in a newly adapted facility in Hammarby Sjöstad. Teachers are employed under the teacher agreement of the City of Stockholm. There is an option to have lunch at a municipal school for a low cost. Sofia Distans / Stockholm Distans is part of the City of Stockholm and offers wellness benefits.
Your role
You will teach Swedish and English for grades 7-9, according to the Swedish school system but remotely via the learning platform Canvas. In your role, you will teach in various ways, such as through written assignments, oral presentations, and self-produced instructional videos. You will feel comfortable incorporating synchronous elements in your teaching with the students. You will provide feedback on students' assignments both in writing and orally. You will take on the role of mentor, which involves ongoing follow-ups with students and guardians via video link. Since Sofia Distans collaborates with Swedish schools abroad, this work requires constant dialogue with the supervisors at these schools. As a mentor to students receiving distance education as special support, you will work closely with the special educator and the home school's supervisor.
Your qualifications and experience
You are a certified teacher in Swedish and English for grades 7-9 and have at least three years of experience teaching in the higher grades of primary school. It is an advantage if you are certified in Swedish as a second language for grades 7-9. You have a good understanding of the current grading system according to Lgr22 and experience in grading. It is very important that you are interested and curious about the development of digital education. We value that you find it enjoyable and exciting to develop digital education together with colleagues. As both of our student groups face their own challenges and limitations, it is important that you, as a teacher, are flexible. The ability to think "outside the box" is a crucial skill for us! The City of Stockholm works with competency-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's qualifications and thus combating discrimination.
