All students have the right to a school that allows them to develop based on their individual circumstances. SPSM operates schools on behalf of the state. We provide students with a learning environment that enables participation, learning, and development. We offer meaningful, stimulating, and important educational work at our schools.
Birgittaskolan in Ă–rebro provides bilingual education in a sign language environment for students from preschool to grade 10. Our students receive instruction in both Swedish sign language and written Swedish. We offer accommodation for students who cannot commute to school every day.
Birgittaskolan is a state special school for students who are deaf or have hearing impairments. The school is located in Örebro and accepts students from the counties of Dalarna, Södermanland, Värmland, Västmanland, Örebro, and Östergötland. For students who cannot commute daily, Birgittaskolan provides student accommodation.
We offer our students an environment that promotes participation and development. Everyone can engage in social interactions, feel a sense of belonging, and grow as individuals in a bilingual education within a sign language environment.
At Birgittaskolan, we have excellent access to various professionals in our student health team and digital learning tools in a well-equipped IT environment.
We are approximately 100 employees working at the school or in our student accommodations.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a teacher in the after-school program at Birgittaskolan, you, along with another teacher, will be responsible for the instruction in the after-school program and assist in the school's recess activities. As teachers, you are responsible for ensuring that the program aligns with the curriculum for after-school care. Working in an after-school program entails irregular working hours with openings and closings of the program.
This position is a temporary contract.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has:
- A teaching license that qualifies you to teach in after-school care in primary education.
A prerequisite for working with us is that you can communicate in Swedish sign language, as our sign language environment is very important.
You should be familiar with the commonly used programs in schools.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Experience working with students with neuropsychiatric disabilities, low-arousal approaches, intellectual disabilities, and with students who are deafblind.
- Experience collaborating and being a complement in a work team.
- A solution-focused approach that is also engaging, guiding, and motivating.
The school also has student accommodation for certain students, which requires the ability to collaborate with both accommodation staff and other professionals connected to the student's school day.
We have access to interactive whiteboards in all classrooms, so experience and knowledge in using such tools is an advantage.
