The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS also implements secure care for young people. We operate youth homes and facilities for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. SiS Youth Home Vemyra, located outside Sollefteå, accommodates school-age boys up to 16 years old with psychosocial problems, as well as issues related to crime and substance abuse.
Job Description
Would you like to take on a challenge with a unique mission in an exciting environment and a smaller context? At SiS Youth Home Vemyra, we run our own school in combination with treatment for young people placed in round-the-clock care. Collaboration between the school and the various departments is crucial for how well we succeed in motivating the youth to turn a negative development into something that can provide better conditions for a good life. The school consists of a principal, teachers, a study and career counselor, and a special educator who collaboratively plan, teach, evaluate, and develop the educational work at the institution. Mentoring responsibilities are also part of the teaching role. A student health team is also present, and the institution provides its own health care services with a nurse, psychologist, and doctor.
Qualifications
You hold a teaching degree and have experience teaching home economics to students in grades 7-9. Other subjects from primary school are advantageous. You have worked with students who require special support.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability, where you are prepared to focus extra on building good relationships with the students. We work extensively on motivation and therefore design lessons that prioritize students' creativity and participation.
