Sollentuna Parish is located just north of Stockholm and encompasses the entire municipality with approximately 76,000 residents.
Here, there are five churches, three chapels, and three cemeteries. The parish activities are divided into two pastoral areas. The church's music gives voice, presence, and community to a faith that is greater than ourselves. In our parish, there is a rich and broad musical tradition to build upon and continue to develop. Music holds a natural place and continues to be renewed to speak to people today.
We are looking for someone who wants to let music in all its forms be a living and sustaining force to spread the gospel – in worship services, church ceremonies, and in encounters with people. We offer you the opportunity to flourish in several musical areas such as choir leadership, concert activities, organ and piano playing, in a church with a heart for worship.
About the position
The tasks are varied, with the opportunity to use your gifts and musicality to help develop the parish community. Your primary service will be in the Southern pastoral area, based at Kummelby Church, and will include:
- Being responsible for the music at worship services and church ceremonies.
- Contributing to the musical aspect of parish life, devotions, and concerts.
- Leading the Tureberg Church Choir.
- Collaborating with other colleagues in the work team and with the music colleagues on various types of parish-wide cooperative arrangements.
The position also includes participation in worship services where you are part of the Alpha team. You will be part of building the parish community at Kummelby Church, which has a rich worship life with well-attended services and many engaged volunteers, as well as a congregation that sings well. The church choir at Tureberg Church (the other church in the pastoral area) is an ambitious and wonderfully mixed choir that you will lead.
Qualifications
- A church musician degree at a minimum of C-level.
- Experience in leading a choir.
- A good musical breadth and curiosity about different genres.
- A valid driver's license (B) and access to a car.
We are looking for an engaged and experienced musician who enjoys working both independently and in a team. If you have a heart for worship and volunteers, that would be an advantage.
The position is a permanent employment with a 100% employment rate, including day, evening, and weekend duties.
