The working hours are weekdays from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM and every other weekend with varying times. He lives in an apartment in Linné, works a lot, and moves between various assignments, training, and sometimes different events. When he comes home, he needs support with everything from household chores to practical matters related to training and mobility. He has a spinal cord injury and uses a wheelchair, so you will be an essential part of ensuring his days continue to flow.
You enjoy being close to people, are confident in yourself, and are not afraid to take initiative when needed. Above all, you understand the importance of his assistance functioning well – because when that works, life around him works too. Personal chemistry is crucial, so that both of you feel the collaboration is natural and sustainable.
The position starts as a part-time employment and may transition to a fixed-term contract as long as the assignment continues, provided the personal chemistry is right.
GIL has been coordinating personal assistance since 1989. The cooperative has roots in the Independent Living movement, which is based on the principle that individuals with disabilities know best how they want to live their lives. Typically, the person receiving assistance is the closest supervisor of the assistants, or a person with specific knowledge about the individual is appointed.
