Hello!
Our boy is a ray of sunshine who loves to smile! He uses a wheelchair (which you will maneuver), has epilepsy, and is fed via PEG. He cannot speak verbally and has an intellectual disability, so his mental age is much younger than his physical age. Your willingness to communicate on his terms is important, as a beautiful interaction is a big part of the work.
Do you have experience with PEG, respiratory issues, intellectual disabilities, and epilepsy? That's a big plus! He has a progressive disease, and changes in care and needs occur from time to time, so you need to be well-versed in his routines, which are adjusted monthly.
He lives centrally in Stockholm with his father and in Bromma with his mother (every other week). Sometimes he has the opportunity to be at Lilla Ersta and is allowed to bring his personal assistants there.
Your superpowers on-site:
As a personal assistant, you'll be our hero on-site and provide support in all kinds of situations. Work tasks include:
* Diaper changes, showering, and support during meals (PEG feeding).
* Walks, play, games, stretching, and physiotherapy.
* Quick help during respiratory difficulties and epileptic seizures.
* Participating in outings, family activities, and playground visits.
* Picking up the boy from school and accompanying him home via special transport.
* Watching over him during nights, primarily due to epilepsy, reflux, and breathing.
We are now seeking someone who wants to work as a substitute when needed.
If everything feels good, there's a possibility of a permanent position.
Your profile:
* Loves children, present, attentive, and caring.
* Not afraid of medical care. The boy has a progressive disease, and his health condition can change quickly. You need to be very alert and stress-resistant.
* Present, reliable, and thorough.
* Responsible, understanding, and punctual.
* Positive and in good spirits while at work.
* You arrive on time, follow routines, and take initiative when needed.
* You are good at receiving written instructions and meeting deadlines. You would rather ask once too many times than once too few to provide the right care.
Introduction:
The introduction will take place immediately with the boy's parents. You need to build a relationship with the boy and learn his care needs and routines by completing a few introductory shifts during the day before working nights.
Shift Placement:
* Weekday afternoons 14:55-21:00
* Holidays around 9-15 or 15-21 (double shifts possible, i.e., 9-21)
* Nights around 21-10
What we offer:
* Committed team: You'll become part of our fantastic team of assistants who truly adore this little guy! Relationship is important; this assistance is proof of truly beautiful connections.
* Developing environment: Regular staff meetings and reviews of routines and training so that you, with or without experience, can learn everything you need to do a good job.
* Meaningful work: You truly make a difference in every work shift, providing security for both parents and the boy.
* Health benefits, collective agreement, insurance, and much more.
