About the Department The Social Work Clinic 1 at Sahlgrenska and the Social Work Clinic 1 at Östra are organizationally under the area of Ambulance and Specialized Home Healthcare. The services are provided at Sahlgrenska, Högsbo, and Östra hospitals. Part of the services is within specialized palliative care based in Högsbo. We are now seeking a social worker for the Social Work Clinic 1 at Sahlgrenska Hospital. The work is conducted in both outpatient and inpatient care, focusing on areas such as diabetes, pulmonary medicine, cardiology, hematology, and geriatrics. Job Responsibilities The social worker is the psychosocial expert in healthcare. As a social worker within healthcare, you are a resource for both patients and their relatives. You work with the consequences that illness and poor health entail or risk entailing, in areas concerning family, networks, employment, and finances. You contribute to teams, clinics, and departments by addressing how the psychosocial situation affects medical treatment outcomes and counteracting the medicalization of psychosocial issues. The specific measures taken depend on needs and situations but can be summarized as follows: - Crisis and support conversations with patients and/or relatives. - Conversations that provide support and facilitate change at various stages of the patient's care journey, where the patient may need help finding effective strategies to better manage daily life. - Practical social work, such as assistance with applications, certificates, contacts, and collaboration with authorities like social services and the social insurance agency. - Information, advice, and referrals to empower patients to take action on their own. The social worker is also responsible for recognizing children as relatives. The tasks are varied and offer good opportunities for development. As an employee at a university hospital, you will be involved in education and development. The unit's mission also includes lecturing, both internally and externally, as well as supervising students. You are expected to stay updated on developments in social work within healthcare. About You You are a qualified social worker, preferably with professional certification as a healthcare social worker. Experience in social work within healthcare is desirable. It is important that you possess strong collaborative skills and the ability to share your knowledge while learning from others and working in a multidisciplinary environment. You should also have a genuine interest in development and improvement work. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. A driver's license is desirable but not a requirement.
