About this role

Are you a relationship-building counselor with a commitment to student well-being? Then you might be the one we're looking for at Vikbolandet School! Who are we? Vikbolandet School is located in a picturesque area on the Vikbolandet countryside, with strong local roots. The school is a central part of the community and offers education from preschool to grade 9, with an associated after-school program. We have approximately 55 employees. Within the school's student health team focusing on grades F–6, there is a special education teacher, a school nurse, a counselor (who will work part-time alongside this position), two special education teachers, and a social pedagogue. We are in a long-term development process where we are building structures for safety, participation, and goal achievement. As a counselor at the school, you will be an important part of this work. Your Responsibilities As a counselor at Vikbolandet School, you are a central part of the school's student health team and work closely with the principal, special education teacher, social pedagogue, school nurse, and other staff to create a safe, inclusive, and health-promoting learning environment for all students. You work both preventively and interventionally, focusing on students' social and emotional development and their right to a good learning environment. The work involves supporting students individually and in groups, holding conversations, leading initiatives around school attendance and well-being, and being a support for guardians and staff on issues related to students' psychosocial situation. You actively contribute to the school's systematic student health work, which may include leading or participating in student health meetings, collaborating with external actors such as social services or child and adolescent psychiatry, and working to develop the school's routines around safety, equal treatment, and student influence. You are a clear role model in your approach, have high integrity, and ensure that all students are seen, listened to, and receive the right support based on their needs. Your work is grounded in evidence-based methods and a strong belief in the school's compensatory mission. The position may involve working hours at a neighboring school. Who are you? We are looking for someone with a degree in social work, behavioral science, or an equivalent education that qualifies you to work as a school counselor. You have previous experience working with children and youth, preferably within schools or social work. You have a good ability to see the big picture and build relationships, both with students, guardians, and colleagues. You are confident, communicative, and attentive, and easily create trust when meeting different people. You preferably have experience leading conversations or groups with children on social skills, emotional regulation, or conflict management. You also have experience with school attendance, equal treatment issues, or value-based work, and are familiar with documentation systems like Prorenata. Experience collaborating with external authorities and agencies is also valuable. As a person, you are committed, solution-focused, and responsible. You see opportunities where others see obstacles and are passionate about making a difference in students' daily lives. Welcome with your application!
