Within the Children and Education Administration, our approximately 3,000 employees collectively serve around 14,000 children and students at more than 100 preschools and schools throughout the municipality every day. Every child and student in Sundsvall's preschools and schools should be able to develop, learn, and reach their goals according to their own conditions. Each student should be able to leave school with desire, knowledge, and good prerequisites to meet adult life and the future.
Sundsvall Montessori School is located in the scenic Sidsjö area, with proximity to both lake and beautiful forest environment. The school currently has over 240 students. The school has four work teams: F-3, 4-6, 7-9, and after-school care. To stimulate student development and learning, we work according to Montessori pedagogy. This approach follows the child throughout their school years - from the toddler department in preschool to grade 9. We place the student at the center and strive to give each student the best possible conditions to develop their full potential.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a school counselor, you contribute your psychosocial competence in resource and development issues, organizational development, and change management. You play a crucial role in the school's student health team. The work is primarily preventive and health-promoting.
The assignment includes creating conditions for change and development from a holistic perspective, with the aim of promoting good environments and strengthening children's and young people's opportunities to reach their goals. The work is conducted at organizational, group, and individual levels.
The school counselor works on the principal's assignment and provides consultation on social and psychosocial issues to school staff. The role also includes coordinating the school's zero-tolerance group against harassment.
The school counselor offers support conversations to individual students and collaborates with guardians. The work involves cooperation with student health services across multiple schools in the school district, as well as with the municipality's and society's other resources and authorities. Elementary school counselors have group supervision and joint meetings, with one of the school counselors having a coordinating assignment for the group.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are seeking someone with a social work degree. You should have good knowledge of legislation relevant to your competence area. Experience working with children and youth and/or counseling work is desirable, as is familiarity with curriculum goals and values.
We appreciate candidates who can easily establish trustworthy relationships and value collaboration. The position requires flexibility based on operational needs. You should be able to make professional assessments and plan and implement interventions independently or with others.
We welcome someone who enjoys change and development. You are expected to take independent responsibility for your professional work. The role also requires you to maintain and deepen your professional competence and understanding of the world.
You should be able to prioritize tasks and take responsibility for the documentation work included in the assignment. You keep yourself updated in your field and are willing to share your knowledge and experiences.
