School Counselor at Skytteskolan

Job Description Skytteskolan is a relatively newly built school. In January 2022, we moved into new, modern designed facilities and from autumn 2023, we are a preschool to 9th grade school, including adapted primary school. We are now seeking a school counselor for Skytteskolan. The position is a 6-month temporary contract at 80% part-time. As a school counselor, you will be part of the school's student health team and contribute psychosocial expertise at the organizational, group, and individual levels. In student health, you will collaborate with school nurse, special education teacher, school psychologist, school physician, deputy principal, and principal. In the school district, two other counselors work, one of whom is at Skytteskolan and will be your closest colleague. The team's mission is to work health-promoting and preventively together with other work teams at the school to strengthen children and young people's opportunities to achieve their goals. Cooperation is important to us, and we help each other across professional boundaries in complex cases. Your tasks include participating in and driving the school's continuous value-based and safety work, support conversations, motivational interviews, collaborating with and supporting guardians, consultation with staff, and interventions in groups/classes. You will also collaborate with external actors such as social services, habilitation, UPH, and BUP. Together with the principal and your colleague, we distribute grade levels and assignments based on competence, interest, and need. The position includes conducting school social investigations and assessments for receiving students in adapted primary school and investigating student absences. Within the primary school administration, you will participate in professional meetings once a month with counselor colleagues and professional developers and participate in external supervision. As a new school counselor, you will also receive support in your work from professional developers and colleagues. School counselors in the Primary School Administration work from a shared job description. Qualifications We are looking for someone with a Social Work degree or equivalent higher education. Experience working as a counselor and with children and youth is meritorious. You have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing when documenting your work in PMO and have good knowledge of the Social Services Act and the Education Act.
