We are now seeking a school counselor for Ester Mosessons Gymnasium and Center for Language Introduction.
Ester Mosessons Gymnasium is Gothenburg's leading high school in the hospitality industry – a place where future hotel and restaurant professionals emerge.
We train students to become future chefs, servers, restaurant managers, pastry chefs, bakers, hotel staff, activity leaders, and event personnel.
Through an education with strong practical connections, high quality, and close industry collaboration, our students are well-prepared for professional life – with many stepping directly into sought-after roles upon graduation.
Do you want to become part of our dedicated team and help shape future stars in the hospitality industry?
Center for Language Introduction works with newly arrived students of high school age. Students come from all over the world, with different languages and highly diverse backgrounds, making the school an exciting workplace. For many students, the school represents one of their first encounters with Swedish society.
We are seeking an engaging and professional counselor with a big heart and a natural ability to create safety and trust. Here, you will play a crucial role in supporting and guiding individuals in various life situations.
As a counselor at Ester Mosessons and Center for Language Introduction, we offer you the opportunity to work in dynamic learning environments that center on individual well-being and are characterized by high engagement. You will be met by committed colleagues, an inclusive atmosphere, and a strong desire to develop together.
You will work closely with students, teaching staff, principals, and colleagues in student health teams to prevent ill-health and promote students' mental, social, and emotional well-being. The role involves:
Conducting support, motivation, and crisis counseling, as well as investigative and advisory conversations with students and their guardians related to school situations. Working with group interventions on values, equal treatment, safety, well-being, relationships, and addressing harassment. Contributing psychosocial expertise at individual, group, and organizational levels. Providing guidance and consultation to school staff regarding risk and protective factors for students' health, social situation, and learning. Collaborating with external actors such as social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, and other relevant organizations. Supporting educators and mentors in mapping, investigating, and following up on school absenteeism.
As a counselor, you will become an important part of the schools' development work – contributing to creating structures that strengthen students' health, motivation, and learning.
Student health teams currently consist of school nurses, counselors, special education teachers, and principals. Together, we work to create an accessible and health-promoting school environment where every student has the conditions to succeed.
Qualifications
We are seeking a qualified social worker with experience in social work with and for youth. We place great importance on personal suitability in interactions with students and good collaborative abilities.
You have a good understanding of the interplay between individual, group, and organization, and can see how these levels influence each other.
You have previously worked with diverse youth groups and are experienced in collaborating with community support actors such as social services, outreach workers, police, and youth clinics. As a person, you are confident, responsible, and comfortable working with both youth and adults in a school environment.
You have the ability to oversee your area of responsibility and place your work in a broader context. You act independently based on situational needs and make decisions within the framework of your assignment. Collaborative ability is an obvious strength for you, both in interactions with other professionals and in working with teachers and school management.
Together with your colleagues, you drive development based on student and organizational health factors. Your perspective is characterized by opportunities rather than obstacles. You can adapt your working method to the target group and are open to developing new work methods. In your work, you smoothly alternate between collaboration and independent work.
Warmly welcome to apply! Please include educational certificates with your application.
