About this role

About Us The Pain Team Västra Götaland is an initiative within the Västra Götaland Region for the treatment of non-malignant chronic pain in individuals over 18 years of age. The service started in January 2025 and is designed for patients who require a more specialized and interdisciplinary treatment approach than what primary care can offer. Care will be provided both physically and digitally throughout the region. The Pain Team Västra Götaland consists of four teams located in Skövde, Uddevalla, Borås, and Gothenburg, with approximately 45 employees in total. Your placement will be in Gothenburg at Kaserntorget 11a. The service has interdisciplinary treatment teams and the capacity to deliver a complete basic range of specialized pain care. We strive to offer equitable care regionally and will therefore standardize the treatment offerings based on the best available knowledge. Treatment interventions will be conducted both individually and in groups. Employees play a vital role in the development of the service. The operation will be run in close collaboration with the Pain Center Östra at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, which has primary responsibility for medical assessments and pharmacological treatment. The Pain Team Västra Götaland also collaborates closely with the Primary Care Research and Development Unit and Sahlgrenska Academy. About the Job You will participate in the establishment and design of the service together with other employees and managers. Other professionals in the team include physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, psychotherapists, and doctors. Concurrently, work is ongoing to care for patients. You will collaborate with social worker colleagues within the Pain Team, where there is a social worker at each location. You will also work together with two social worker colleagues at the Pain Center, Sahlgrenska University Hospital. In your role as a social worker, you will be responsible for psychosocial care, which also includes support conversations and crisis management. You will work both individually and with group therapy. You will also assist patients in finding further pathways forward by increasing their awareness of their life situation, their own possibilities, and resources. This also involves an orienting and supportive role in collaboration with various external partners regarding patients. Your tasks will also include social mapping, support for patients and relatives, a child perspective, collaboration with neighboring care providers, and authorities such as the employment agency and social insurance agency. Assessment and rehabilitation can occur both physically and digitally. You will also participate in the team’s work around the patient, including team meetings and rehabilitation meetings as needed. Coordinating tasks may also be included in the assignment. About You We are looking for someone with a degree in social work and who is a licensed healthcare social worker with training and experience in treating patients with chronic pain. Experience in psychiatry and primary care, as well as basic psychotherapy training, is considered an asset. Experience with digital care and digital tools, group therapy, interdisciplinary teamwork, and knowledge in CBT, ACT, brief therapy, and mindfulness are also desirable. We see it as preferable that you have several years of experience in the profession. As a person, we are looking for someone who has an interest in and preferably experience with teamwork, as well as the ability to assess patients' rehabilitation potential and summarize this in writing. It is important that you feel secure in your professional role and enjoy teamwork, with a biopsychosocial perspective.
