About this role

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the cycle of crime. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transport. The Mariestad operational area includes the closed prison Johannesberg, the largest open prison in the country Rödjan, and the Mariestad Remand Facility. Currently, Mariestad has approximately 360 employees distributed across various professional categories and competencies. We are now seeking correctional officers to work this summer at our three facilities. **JOB DESCRIPTION** You will be part of the team that works closest to the clients – you will be the one who locks and unlocks, accompanies clients to various activities, and ensures that daily operations run smoothly, always with a focus on safety. You will receive two weeks of paid introduction. You will work day, evening, and weekend shifts. A summer job is a great entry point to a permanent position with paid training. **QUALIFICATIONS** We place great emphasis on your personal suitability. You are secure, stable, possess good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. You enjoy working collaboratively with others and communicate clearly. You can also act physically when required. You share our belief that individuals can develop and change. We are looking for candidates who have: • Work experience • Completed upper secondary education or equivalent education combined with work experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service • Ability to express oneself well in spoken and written Swedish • Good computer skills It is advantageous if you: • Have work experience in corrections, security work, service work, psychiatry, or healthcare and social care • Speak multiple languages The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is part of the justice system, responsible for prisons, probation, and remand facilities, as well as transport.
